RB Terron Ward signed his letter of intent with the Oregon State football team. He’s a 5-foot-7, 185-pounder from De La Salle High in Concord, Calif. Ward accepted a scholarship and a greyshirt opportunity, which means he’ll join the Beavers in January.
Ward is an all-purpose back who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds. Rivals ranks him as a three-star athlete and the No. 23 prospect at his position in the country.
The Beavers didn’t sign him right away because of an abundance of ball carriers, including one signed for the coming season, and they are at the scholarship limit.
Greyshirting pushes Ward back a year and spreads out the RBs in difference classes. He’s the brother of former Oregon CB TJ Ward.
On a separate note, WR Markus Wheaton is not running track with the five other football players due to scheduling conflicts.

Six Oregon State football players will represent the school in an indoor track meet Friday and Saturday in Seattle, cross country and track coach Kelly Sullivan told me Tuesday afternoon.
Jordan Bishop and Obum Gwacham will do the high jump. James Rodgers, Markus Wheaton, Keynan Parker and Rashaad Reynolds will run the 60 meters.
Bishop pushed for this since he signed two years ago. Part of his recruiting was he could do track and football. The Beavers haven’t had men’s track team since 1988.
“It evolved this last year,” Sullivan said. “It came because Jordan and Keynan missed doing track. Then others started asking about it. I give Jordan and Keynan a lot of credit for doing it, and (athletic director) Bob De Carolis for his idea of having as many opportunities as possible for student-athletes.”
This is not officially a team. They are individuals representing OSU at various events. Sullivan has taken the football players under his wing as side project to the women’s team he normally trains.
A track facility needs to be built first before a men’s team can be assembled, and OSU is fundraising. Rumbling around the program say something could happen very soon on that.
For more on this situation, there will be a full story in Thursday’s GT. Here’s a link to the full story.

WR Damola Adeniji was a Ducks fan, now he’s a star for the Beavers. PHOTO/AP.
Check out my Wednesday story in the GT here about former Oregon fans now playing for the Oregon State football team.
The obvious first pick was WR Damola Adeniji since he grew up in Eugene. The others are OG Burke Ellis and WR Markus Wheaton because family members played for the Ducks.
Here’s a funny story OT Mike Remmers told about Ellis that didn’t make the story. Remmers is a diehard Beavers fan. When the Ducks sent him recruiting letters, he didn’t even open them. He was either getting a scholarship with the Beavers or walking on.
Anyway, Ellis and Remmers are good friends. Ellis’ brother is Remmers’ current roommate. Now that the buildup to the Civil War has begun, there’s a different vibe around the apartment.
“I don’t talk to him right now,” Remmers said of Ellis’ brother. “It’s an agreement. You don’t say anything to me, and I won’t say anything to you.”
Remmers plans to go duck hunting on his family farm on Thanksgiving to put food on the dinner table that night. And of course he’s taking Ellis with him.
“We do have to kill those ducks,” Ellis said with a smile.
