Riley on the ESPYs Comments
Oregon State football coach Mike Riley, RB Jacquizz Rodgers and WR James Rodgers attended the ESPYs in Los Angeles this summer because the Beavers were nominated for the upset of the year for beating No. 1-ranked Southern California.
Here are Riley’s thoughts on how things went:
Did you enjoy your trip to the ESPYs?
“Our trip to the ESPYs with Quizz and James was pretty neat. That was a really interesting experience. It was way too much Hollywood, but good to do once. Of course if we get nominated again it would be fun to go again. It was fun because of the whole experience with the red carpet. It was pretty interesting to be watching the TV show take place.”
Who did you meet?
“We were all sitting together, and then Kobe (Bryant) was right there. Chris Berman knew (Quizz). Kurt Warner, I introduced the guys to. And he remembered seeing them play.”
Were you nervous?
I wasn’t nervous. I had no idea (what would go on). We just sat there. When it came up, I was a little nervous and what if I had to go up there. That social anxiety was setting in. But I didn’t have to worry about it. They did a good replay of the finalist for the upset of the year. There was a long thing on the game.”
