Cliff: Year-in-review Comments

Dec30

The Oregon State sports year-in-review story ran in Wednesday’s GT here. Football takes the top spot on the top-10 stories list with another run to at the Rose Bowl.

Men’s basketball has two spots in the top 10 with the CBI title win and the national pub from coach Craig Robinson’s ties to the White House.

What sticks out to me on the list is all the Olympic sports success. The women’s soccer team had its best season ever and men’s soccer is turning its program around.

Then there were individual success of gymnasts, volleyball players and men’s soccer players. OSU put forth a good overall sports program beyond football.

So anyway, check out the 2009 men’s soccer highlights video below.

Cliff: De Carolis meeting Comments

Oct14

SCOBEL WIGGINS | Gazette-Times OSU Athletic Director Bob DeCarolis sees the installation of the new scoreboard at Reser Stadium and the completion of the Sports Performance Center as his two major accomplishments for the last year.
Oregon State AD Bob De Carolis sat down with the beat writers Wednesday afternoon to talk about many items, but mostly money.

There will be a long interview run in Thursday’s GT, but here are the main items to get you going.

He’s feels comfortable about the money OSU is bring in, but more tickets sold and donors are needed to keep things going.

He’s happy with the product that every team is putting on the field.

No sport will be cut after this school year like hinted about back in April. It’s just not worth it financially.

A plan is in place for the basketball practice facility and  coach Craig Robinson is happy with the idea. Now a lead donor is needed for the $15 million project.
