I caught with former Oregon State QB Sean Canfield about his NFL combine performance Wednesday. You can read all about it in Thursday’s GT here.
While many reports out of the combine bagged on his arm strength, Canfield said the scouts were impressed. He was happy about his interviews, too.
Here’s a story on the latest on the men’s track team. The Beavers head to Seattle on Saturday for an NCAA last-chance qualifier meet.
Jordan Bishop already provisionally qualified in the high jump. If he doesn’t make the qualifying standard of 7-2, he finds out Monday if he’s in the March 12-13 NCAA indoor championship in Arkansas .
Check out the above video on the future of the track program with coach Kelly Sullivan and athletic director Bob De Carolis narrating. They talk specifically about the men’s program and coming facility.
Oregon State athletic director Bob De Carolis put up another AD Report on the program’s web site. He’s still looking for BASF donors, and reports progress.
There are about 2,300 donors right now, up by 200 from last year at this point. What’s good in his view is that there 170 new donors. Read more about OSU’s fundraising effort here.
On a side note, the men’s basketball game at 7:30 p.m. against Cal will not be shown in the state of Washington on FSN. If you are from there, and want to see the game, make a quick run south.
Oregon State football coach Mike Riley cleared the air about his status Sunday night. He signed a new contract with OSU through 2019. Terms will be disclosed later.
One item is still in the contract. For every bowl game apperance, a year is added. The goal is to make this a lifetime contract.
Here’s a link to my story in Monday’s GT with more specifics. And here’s a link to my Sunday story on OSU’s offseason plans. It holds a little more water now that Riley will be around to follow up on those plans.
So what do you think? A good move by AD Bob De Carolis, or a bad one?
I think it was a good move to secure Riley with the only thing that De Carolis could beat USC with, a long-term committment. OSU knows what it gets with Riley, and most people like what he has to offer. And that De Carolis moved quickly on this was very smart.
