Oregon State AD Bob De Carolis released his latest Orange Perspective, which was the AD Report in the past. He talks about the basketball facility groundbreaking.
Lost in the groundbreaking is that the wrestling team will have a new locker room. The wrestlers are now housed in one area. Their workout room was already attached to the Strength Performance Center.
Facility-wise, the Beavers have everything an athlete needs in one spot. I’ve mentioned this before recently, but the construction on campus for athletics for the last 10 years has been amazing.
For a rundown on how the year went for all the sports, check it out here. There are a lot of good things happening for many of the programs. So blog readers, step back from the ledge.
For those worried about the game day experience in football, I’ve been told that many things are in the works but are still being finalized. OSU folks have heard the people and are trying to improve.
How the baseball team plans to move on without former associate HC Marty Lees should announced any time now.

It will be interesting to see what they come up with to improve gameday experience. They have a lot of work to do in that arena and I’d start with beating teams like Sac St. I have always thought that they blew an opportunity to make the most out of the Reser renovations. They didn’t have tickets prices appropriately and should have done more to make sure the stadium was sold out. The gameday experience is alway better when the stadium is packed. I dropped my season ticket package soon after the renovation because there were always plenty of tickets available. I attend about 4-5 games per year and always purchase them an hour or two before the game. Of course, the Civil War is the exception. Anyhow, the point is that I would never have stopped buying season tickets if I felt that I would have a hard time getting tickets without committing to the season.

Beaverpride- That is a realistic assessment of the overall program at this stage.I have held onto 4 season tix because I like my seats and there is always HOPE that we are going to start turning things around.
It’s a pretty sad accomplishment report when they have to start out with attendance figures and it goes downhill from there.
We do not need HOKEY entertainment , we need to win and to establish some fun traditions. I loved the Wisconsin tradition of a 5th quarter.Win or lose, everyone stays around and enjoys interviews and replays while concessions are still available. Use the stadium as a venue – quit going over to a small lounge at the Hilton.
How about some field level competition for the kids and a chance to meet some of the athletes. That is how you build future Beaver fans.
The hated ducks down south have ‘fun’ and win. They get more announcer and TV time on the sidelines than anu other team in the nation ( play cards – duck pushups, etc. )

“I’ve been told that many things are in the works but are still being finalized” Isn’t that the same OSU mantra that we hear agian and again? Like Mike says we do not need more hokey entertainment or more of the types of booths outside Reser before games. We need to have activities which will encourage people to get to the game early and maybe stay around afer the games.
Number 1 should be, start winning games

I want hokey entertainment and I’d love to hear the finalized gameday experience plan from BDC where he says: “we’ve spent hours on the gameday improvements, and here’s the plan: the Beavs are going to start winning games. Enjoy.”

Idea for Fan Day: How abut a free hot dog feed on the new Prothro Field turf. 10-noon. Also have a beer garden in close proximity (somthing similar to the Sun Bowl pre-game set up in El Paso for anyone who might have gone to that). Bring the Beaver Band in for a few rousing fight song moments and have a good boom box blairing out classic rock and roll music throughout. This could become a regular event that grows and enhances enthusiasm. Lots of tailgaiters often find themselves without a place to go and this will fill the void for everyone.

I have both admired Mike Riley and have been a critic, but at least Beaver fans are not likely to see this quote about the OSU coach: Nike founder Phil Knight, who defended Paterno at the coach’s memorial service, says “it appears Joe made missteps that led to heartbreaking consequences.” MISSTEPS. Your betcha, Phil! Missteps while protecting a child rapist. It will be interesting to hear Phil’s comments if he can not help finesse the Oregon/Kelly Willy Lyles problem with the NCAA.

Here is something to look forward to in 2015. Scout and Rivals both rank Michigan #1 in Recruiting so far this year. OSU #1 also #81. These players will be starting their 3rd year at Mich. OSU will be breaking in a new QB. Anybody want to take a wild guess who will win this game? After that game BobbyD will want to rename the Beavers, OSU Lambs.

Were doomed….because we all know that nothing can happen between now and then to change the outcome…..I just love your positive outlook…..

It’s not really about us losing to Michigan at all, it’s about BDC offering us as sacrificial lambs just as all those other weak teams do to the other Big10 teams. You see, if BDC had actually negotiated a home/away with Michigan, we all would be looking forward to playing Michigan TWICE even though it would appear we may be overmatched today. We would be squirming in anticipation at hosting Michigan and I’d bet more of us would be making a trip to the Big House to experience the game there.

OSUSupporter well put. Like myself, you must of been around all those years when previous Admins. use to put the team up for a big paycheck. 28 yrs. of losing was not fun. We just don’t want history to repeat itself. The Ducks gave that up a long time ago too.
