The Pac-12 Networks are coming Aug. 15. I wrote a while back how huge this is for the Oregon State athletic department.
I’m not talking money only. The exposure will be huge.
However, like anything new there are several things to workout. OSU folks are working hard to get ready.
For fans, check out this video. The Pac-12 is launching 12 promo videos centered around each school to give you info.
Also, go to the Pac-12 Networks channel finder here to see where you can see all this stuff.

“Is the Pac-12 over exposing itself?”
This can’t be a serious question.
The marketing and distribution of the Pac-12 products has been so bad for so long, that there is effectively no way to “catch up”.
And that’s even assuming that carriage on satellite, secondary cable carriers, and universally on the internet (not just from the niche ISPs that also happen to provide cable service to a minority of the Pac-12′s customers), none of which has gotten accomplished yet, ultimately gets done.
You can’t sell a product to people you can’t reach, and the Pac-12 network is essential to provide both awareness of AND access to the premier product (know as college football), the prime products (known as college basketball), and the embarrassingly under-marketed products that are all the other activities.
Far more in the way of increased attendance and viewership AND increased support (donations and purchases) AND increased advertising reach will come from growing the customer base than any redirection from one area to another due to ease of access that may actually allow customers to select one means of access over an other.

That photo and cutline (caption) came from a blog/column I previously wrote: Check it out here: http://cliffkirkpatrick.mvourtown.com/2012/06/10/too-much-of-a-good-thing/

This looks like another situation like the blazers. Dish and Direct won’t play ball and rural areas with no cable get shut out of watching the sports they want. Sounds like a bad thing to me if they don’t get this figured out!!

Yeah, note to Larry Scott: not everyone can get comcast. I’m sure I’m not the only one waiting to find out *IF* I’ll be able to get the PAC12 network in my area.

the biggest issue is availability. can the AD’s in the confrence or better yet the president of the p12 lean on dish and direct to get this out to all the major carriers?

I went on the website to check the availability in my area and found that Charter Cable does not have the Pac 12 Network… yet. I had to send an email request to petition Charter to pick up the Pack. So, I’m not too impressed yet. Personally, I’d like to be able to watch the games over the internet.

Out east here in Virginia, I have Verizon Fios. And we do not get the network. This sucks. It will be the first time since, i dont know when, that i will not be able to see my Beavs. I was very excited about this network, but it does nothing for me if i cant watch. Oh well atleast the Beavs are getting some serious dough out of this….

Aaron,
Just watch the Ducks instead, they’ll have plenty of nationally-televised games
Yeah, I’m a jerk…

Corvallisd*ck,
At least you admit it, most of your kind can’t even do that! How does it feel to ride on a wagon, did you just jump on?
GO BEAVS!

OSU4Life,
No, not a bandwagon jumper. Lifelong Duck fan (though I admit to being fairly young), proud UO alum now trying to make a living in Beaver Land…
Go Ducks (five in a row this year?)

Any news on the new 6’4″ receiver commit the Oregonian is reporting?

Hi Cliff,
I’m located on Northern Virginia so I’ll be able to receive the main network, but not the regional feeds of course. I’m worried because of the Beavers last couple of seasons that not too many games will be broadcast. I checked the Pac-12 website and there was a paragraph discussing online viewing. Will this online source allow me to stream the Beavs if they’re not televised, or have you heard any rumors? Thanks.

If you get the main network, the cable should be able to get you the cable anywhere.

Hey DC Beav, I too live in NOVA but i have Verizon Fios. Which doesnt even carry the network, this will be the first season that i can remember that i wont be able to watch the majority of the games. This network is good for the $ but bad if the fans cannot get it!
