Oregon State senior CB Jordan Poyer is on the watch list for the Bednarik Award, which goes to the nation’s top defense player each year.
Semifinalist will be announced by the Maxwell Football Club on Oct. 29 and the three finalists announced Nov. 19 with winner being determined on the Dec. 6 College Football Awards Show.
Poyer was second-team all-conference last season with 57 tackles, four INTs and 12 pass breakups. He is also listed as a fourth-team all-American by Phil Steele and on the watch list for the Lott Trophy.

The College Football Performance Awards list sophomore DE Scott Crichton on its top DL list.
Steele’s preseason honors also include WR Markus Wheaton and junior LB Michael Doctor. He rates Wheaton as the 15th best WR in the country and Doctor the 46th best LB.
