It’s guaranteed when I take some time off, something happens on the Oregon State football team front.
At least this time, it wasn’t anything major.
The Beavers, however, picked up their second verbal commitment for 2013 last week from WR Victor Bolden of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.
Bolden is a three-star 5-foot-9, 165-pounder out of Los Osos High. He had offers from Utah, Hawaii and Eastern Washington. Now that the Utes are in the Pac-12, it’s good for the Beavers to get athletes Utah is after.
247sports.com ranks Bolden the 143rd WR in the country and the 118th player in California. He caught 48 passes for 507 yards a junior, and as a DB he had 27 tackles and one INT. Bolden was also used on punt and kickoff returns.
Check out his junior year highlights in the above video. He looks quick, and Scout.com says he runs a 40-yard dash in 4.46 seconds. Bolden has been given the James Rodgers comparisons.

Kid looks good, but does it concern anyone else that some of our high school recruits are going to Washington and Arizona? I do understand that Oregon has two of the top players in the state, except there are a lot of D1 kids in Oregon who should be recruited harder by Oregon State and Oregon.

Why would you quote 247sports.com? Rivals doesn’t have a position rating yet but Scout has him as #61. I’ve never even heard of 247 sports and usually the typical references are these two or maybe ESPN. Bolden is a 3-star guy with 4.45 speed who’s a good get for OSU.
#61 may not be anything major but I wouldn’t ignore this kid as a potential impact player. Good ties to the Rancho Cucamonga pipeline too–they have some studs on defense for the 2013 recruiting class that maybe we’ll have an in with. Also good friends with Villamin who is rumored to be an OSU lean (hope we get him!).

Fast, shifty, can make the cuts, not afraid of contact, looks like he plays with a chip on his shoulder….What’s not to like. Looks like JR on that fly sweep play that won us the 07 Civil War.

I don’t think we need to throw around JR comparisons just because a highlight video has a few fly sweeps and the kid is under six feet tall, he looks more like Wheaton anyhow.
Definitely looks like he can help our return game right away.
Might be a good player to red shirt also, nothing wrong with adding some quality pounds…

Not exactly a highly sought after athlete but three stars is the best we have to date so this is really exciting. Might be the tipping point where we start rolling with recruiting.

That kid is only 5’9?!? Looks more like 6’1 – 6’2″, with a very long gait. Plus 165lbs…I’m 5’11″, 165 lbs and certainly dont look as solid as this kid. Are you sure these are his measurables? Looks like a good prospect.
