The Oregon State football team picked up its first verbal commitment in the 2013 class in S Terin Solomon, according to Rivals.com.
He’s a 6-foot-2, 185-pounder from Murrieta, Calif., who is unranked at the moment. He also had scholarship offers from Nevada and UCLA.
DL coach Joe Seumalo originally found Solomon in his recruiting area of inland Southern California.
Solomon is coming off a strong junior season. He had 103 tackles, forced seven fumbles, recovered three and intercepted three passes.
Scout.com’s scouting report on him says Solomon likes to play close to the line and is good on run support, but needs to work on pass coverage.
He’s someone who can play S or if he bulks up can move to OLB.

What’s Seumalo doing looking at anyone under 300+
The kid will probably pick up a couple more stars along the way. Looks more like a Will to me, or if OS ever gets “crazy,” maybe a Buck in a 4-2 scheme. Here’s to breaking the ice!

Coaches don’t only recruit at their position. They find guys in their assigned areas, and pass them on to that position’s coach and a joint decision is made if they will extend an offer.

Hopefully a strong senior season. The first of many!

It’s nice to see we finally got a commitment…we broke the ice and hopefully we get things rolling now! Unfortunately this kid has a zero star ranking.

His closing speed appears to be the strength of his game, which is a good thing, given the amount of speed in open space the proliferation of spread offenses of every flavor that will confront Oregon St. with on a regular basis.

Others are reporting him at 5′ 11″.

I wouldn’t put too much stock in recruiting services or HS rosters on heights and weights until OSU measures them. For some reason, they always shrink. And they vary before they get to OSU, too.

Then when they get to the NFL they shrink even more! Hahaha.

I like the way this kid looks. If he is anywhere close to the reported size as a Junior in HS, I see him as a weak side LB. He closes very fast.

Looks like a good prospect. Nice start when the likes of UCLA and Nevada are offering. Something to build on. GO BEAVS.

Hope the beavs get this guy. He has closing speed and good hurry and pop. Looks like an OLB all the way because he doesnt have the swivel hips of a db. Reminds me a lot of James Allen who came out of high school about 185 and bulked up to 230 by the time he played for the Saints.
Good for coach Joe if he found this guy and we get this guy
