It’s that time of year, after the Oregon State football team’s spring practice, to look at what the rest of the Pacific-12 Conference did with their springs.
We start with Arizona and new coach Rich Rodriguez. He made a name for himself at West Virginia and had a rough go at it in Michigan. Read his full bio here.
He’s known as an offensive guy, particularly the spread, passing, no-huddle approach. Read about how it evolved here.
From the spring game, it looks like QB Matt Scott looks like he has a grasp the offense. That doesn’t bode well for the Beavers.
I’m of the opinion the Beavers must get wins over programs rebuilding with new coaches this year. There are four in the Pac-12 with Arizona, Arizona State, Washington State and UCLA.
Here’s a good rundown on the team from the Tucson paper.
And it looks like Wildcat Stadium is going with the turf look now, too. That’s a good move to save water in the desert.
Feel free to discuss the Wildcats and what the Beavers must do to win the game.

I’ll just keep it simple. What the Beavs need to do to win games are three things they did not do well last year. They need to tackle. They need to block. They need to be successful running the ball.
I said enough about the coaches during last season. I’ll reserve comments on them this year until I see their promised improvement. (HINT: do NOT just blame it all on the players!)

If the other team has a running quarterback that equals an OSU loss. Running QB’s don’t bode well for Oregon State. I agree that OSU should find a way to win against the teams with new coaches in the transitional stage. OSU just needs to find ways to win, period! I think it will take a miracle for OSU to win more than 5 games this next season. It’s sad but the 2000 Fiesta Bowl team was an anomoly. Most likely we will never witness another 11 win season, or another BCS Bowl in our lifetime at good ole OSU.
