Former Oregon State WR James Rodgers worked out at the NFL combine Sunday in Indianapolis. Here are his numbers:
40 time: 4.67 seconds
Bench press of 225: 19 reps
Vertical jump: 37.0 inches
Broad jump: 115.0 inches
20-yard shuttle: 4.23 seconds
His draft grade came out 50.2, which translates into a just making the cut for a projected fourth-seventh round pick that teams will look at as a backup and special teams player.

He’ll end up going late… likely even as a free agent.
Somebody will end up with a steal.

Wow his 40 time seems so slow…It had to be one of the slowest times for a WR wasn’t it? I guess he’s more “quick” than “fast”. Is there a place in the NFL for a small, slow receiver?

OSUSUPPORTER – I would caution you not to get caught up on the 40 time that JR did this weekend. He may be still recovering from his knee surgery but I would argue JR was never going to be better than 4.5. What I am most impressed with, however, is his strength, excellent route-running ability, hands and short area quickness. 19 reps, BTW, for a receiver of his stature is excellent! This will prove that JR can effectively hold up on any downfield blocking schemes (to go with film). In addition, film of his production says it all. From what I recall entering his Junior Year, JR was pegged as a possible 3rd-4th rd projection. The type of season he was having before his injury signifies he was right on track. He will have to prove that he has recovered from the surgery, however, and his pro day will be huge! Somebody is going to get a steal if he is a 6th-7th rounder, not to mention making a roster as a FA. He was way too productive and versatile not to make an NFL roster.

His knee injury slowed him down, he has admitted as much. I

Off topic but just watched the civil war basketball game and saw our Beavs lose our 5th in a row. We have a pathetic defense, I don’t know why people say coach Robinson is a good coach…having our centers shoot 3′s is not a god move. And what about our “POY” candidate Cunningham? All he did was put back a miss for a slam instead of passing the ball out to the 3 point line for a game tying attempt at a 3. Bonehead play by Cunningham, and robbed us of a chance to win the game.

he was also 4 of 8 at the free throw line vs our main rival. That’s not a POY candidate. Girls missed 2 free throws all game yesterday. Of course, they have a coach of whom can coach and teach fundamentals.

I agree, This is Robinsons worst year of Coaching (if you call it that) yet.Of coarse we will here that famous excuse again. This team was just to young to compete this year. And so on And so on. On the other hand Congrats to the Women and Coach Rueck. After all these years BobbyD might have finally hired a Coach that has successfully turned a program around at OSU. His name Scott Rueck.Of coarse He wasn’t the 1st choice but was the only one brave enough to take the job, and we are grateful for that.

Robinson is not the one leaving the other teams best three point shooters open game in and game out on blown assignments or throwing the ball away on crucial possessions. It is clear to any real basketball fan that Oregon State’s players simply lack the intangibles needed to be a tournament team. It isn’t something you can coach. If we beat Utah and win our opening Pac-12 tournament game, we will have our first winning season in what, 10 years? The only reason we are discussing OSU basketball in the first place is because Robinson made them relevant again.

Hoping the best for James.
Rueck and his team have overachieved and have done us proud.
The guys have been somewhat disappointing (except for the GREAT win in Eugene). We need for Cunningham to come back, and we need a taller point guard option for when Starks’ shooting doesn’t adequately offset his defensive matchup issues. With another year of maturity (fare well McShane) we could see some exciting play next year, the first real year of Robinson recruits..

73Grad, virtually EVERY player on the roster was recruited by Robinson (except Mcshane who is a bench warmer) so it is his team. He’s been here 4 years and he has not shown improvement at all in the Pac12 conference. In a weak conference to finish near the bottom should be grounds for dismissal. If it weren’t for our pathetic non-conference schedule (ranked like 330th toughest in the NCAA) we would have 20 losses. We have good athletic players who deserve better than a coach who’s mostly “famous” for being related to the first lady, not for any accomplishments achieved personally. Let’s trade Rueck for Robinson and bring a winning attitude and effective in game coaching to the men’s team!

obviously his speed hasnt come back yet. i will bet by the time the fall rolls around he is a 4.4 or 4.5 guy. good luck to him. hope he makes a squad.

Has JR ever been a 4.4 guy in his life? I doubt it. Sub 4.4 is elite and sub 4.5 is outstanding.
Unfortunately, JR not only is small, but he has been really dinged up during college. Don’t get me wrong, he is tough and has heart. Unfortunately, some of his best work was running the fly sweep which you just don’t see run in the pros. Maybe a return specialist given his good hands and elusiveness in crowds.
I’m hoping he can surprise some folks. What was Hass’s 40 time?
RenoNVbeavr says:

I recall Hass running the 40 in the high 4.6′s. He put on a clinic running the gauntlet though and was singled out by NFL’s Mike Maycock for his excellent hands.

James’s knee injury cost him an shot at a short NFL career. We all knew this when he came back. He clearly was not the same.
He was much faster before the injury. He was also able to cut much more precise at speed. His hands and heart are NFL quality. But sadly that is where it has ended.
I feel for him, he gave his soul to the Beavers team. Proud of him.
OSUSupporter says:

Reno, Hass is bigger, faster and has better hands. Hass also washed out of the NFL, never catching a pass in the regular season. That doesn’t bode well for James but you never know.
