It’s the national holiday of Super Bowl Sunday, and as many of you know who stop by the blog you get entertained by musical whims on occasion.
The last couple years on this day I blogged about great rock performances at the halftime show. Well, this year pop diva icon Madonna performs.
She’ll be performing one of my favorite songs above. It was not only a great song, but the video was such a controversy back in the day. Check it out here. I couldn’t embed due to it being disabled, so you get the live DVD version.
So, I figure it was time to review my top pop diva performances at the Super Bowl. Feel free to agree or disagree.
1. Gwen Stefani of No Doubt. This was from my hometown of San Diego. This song rocked. I remember when I first heard that song on the radio was very impressed. Then I saw the video, and wow.
2. Shania Twain. Another 2003 San Diego performance. I know, a country act, what blasphemy. However, her ex-husband and producer, Mutt Lange, is also the guy behind Def Leppard. Just close you eyes and imagine this on the Hysteria album. It fits. This sounds like classic Def Leppard.
3. Britney Spears with Aerosmith. This gets in just because its Spears and Aerosmith. It would have been better if both acts did this on their own.
4. Janet Jackson. One, she had some good tunes over the years. And two, well, wait until the end to see the most controversial halftime show ever. You know what I mean.
5. Madonna. She already has No. 5 with by just being announced. I’m sure she’ll move up to at least No. 3 by the third quarter. This classic song is also on her set list. See this old-school performance.

Nice story. Any news or rumors on the search for a new secondary coach? Who are some of the likely candidates? Did MR pick someone but hasn’t announced?

I thought I posted that somewhere, but I guess I didn’t.
The latest is the guy who was offered was in Riley’s office Thursday and toured OSU. We should know who it is by midweek at the latest. If not, I’m guessing he didn’t take it.

Do you know if this is his first choice or if he’s had to keep woking down his list.

Riley has been quoted as saying he keeps a list of potential coaches and yet time continues to go by. I’m beginning to think we may not hear any news till KEX takes over broadcasting when Baseball starts.
With the time this is taking it will be doubly disappointing if Riley doesn’t end up with a high quality performer.

Sure am glad KEX is back. I live 25 miles from corvallis and can’t pick up any games after 5 or 6pm.

With 7 regular season games left, the basketball team needs 5 wins in order to reach the 20 win mark. The majority of the remaining games are at home and getting 5 more wins seems possible.
I wanted to see which games OSU fans think we can win to get to that 20 win level.
