Heavy rains for three days created heavy flooding in the Corvallis area. If you are from out of the area, read the home page of the GT to see what’s going on.
While life ground to a halt in more areas, Oregon State sports carried on.
The men’s basketball team defeated UCLA in Gill Coliseum. And Saturday’s game with USC is still on as planned.
The wrestling team still faces Northern Colorado at 7 p.m. tonight in Gill Coliseum.
The gymnasts are enjoying their break from the weather, judging from their tweets, in warm and sunny Tucson for a meet tonight.
And the football recruiting weekend that has at least 11 recruits coming is still on, OSU officials said Friday morning.
WR coach Brent Brennan was fired up on his Twitter early in the morning, looking forward to showing players around.
Last weekend a snow storm hit on the first big recruiting weekend, and now this.
CB Brandon Hardin reported on his Twitter that players at the East-West Shrine Game drew straws as to when they rotate into the game, and he’s third string going into Saturday’s game in St. Petersburg, Fla. “It’s not about who starts, it’s about who finishes,” Hardin wrote.

The weather last week and this week are things we can’t control. We can control how enthusiastic our team is when hosting the recruits and how positive their attitudes are which will go a long way toward making recruits feel welcome. I can’t imagine recruiting right now in Nebraska where it’ll be 13 degrees or in Ann Arbor where it’s 20 degrees is going to affect their visits.
I hope we focus on what we really offer….a chance for a rercruit to get playing time right away against great teams (like UW, OU, Wisc), a supportive fan base (for now), a family atmosphere in a great small college town, and a pro-style approach which translates well for kids getting to the next level.
I guess I’m wearing my rose colored glasses but we need helpo and we need it now.
