ESPN reporter Joe Schad tweeted that former Oregon State QB Ryan Katz visited San Diego State and San Jose State as potential transfer destinations.
Of course San Diego gets my stamp of approval since that’s my hold stomping grounds. Playing home games in an NFL stadium is pretty cool.
Katz, however, wouldn’t get to play in the Big East Conference with one year of eligibility left. The Aztecs are not leaving the Mountain West until the 2013 season.
San Jose State is less impressive, but the opportunity to play is paramount. The Aztecs are headed to a bowl game this year in the New Orleans Bowl, while the Spartans went 5-7. Both teams need a QB.

Calling Qualcomm Stadium an “NFL stadium” might be a stretch. It’s like watching a football game break out in a parking garage.

Like Reser is so much superior.

Parking garages were designed to look like Jack Murphy.
And it’s still an impressive stadium.

Sorry Cliff, I’ve been going to the Murph, errr, the Q since 1981 when i enrolled at SDSU, but it is NOT an impressive stadium. I will be there on the 28th cheering on my lifelong team, the Cal Bears.
Personally, I HATE this type of situation of Katz, ala Wiscy’s Wilson. It’s “rent a qb,” and it is life free agency almost. Katz needs to be weary of the Aztecs, HC Rocky Long won this year with Brady Hoke’s team. And OC Andy Ludwig has been ran out of his last 3 jobs at Cal, Utah, & Oregon. At least he will have ex-NFL’r Brian Sipe as his QB coach if he lands at SDSU.

Sipe is a good one. I knew him well in a media sense back in the day.
The Murph has old charm.

Anyone want to take the bet that SDSU with Katz starting at QB makes it to a higher profile bowl game next year than the Beavs do with Mannion starting at QB? Sad times for us Beavs fans!

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU???? RILEY IS THE BEST THING THAT HAS HAPPENED TO OS SINCE TOMMY PROTHRO. LEARN THE GAME. HE BUILT UP THE TEAM AND ERICKSON DROVE IT INTO THE GROUND, HE HAS BUILT IT BACK UP WITH THE LAST TWO YEARS BEING DISAPPOINTING, BUT FULL OF FUTRE POTENTIAL. GET OFF THE BASH RILEY WAGON AND WATCH WHAT HAPPENS OVER NEXT FEW YEARS

CAPS LOCK IS CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL!!!
While I agree that Riley gets another year to prove he is building up a good team, trying to yell through your keyboard shoves your credibility in the toilet.

Who would take that bet? The Aztecs are tons better right now than OSU. QB Ryan Lindley is way , way, way better than Katz, Mannion, Vaz, etc, AND RB Ronnie Hillman was just named 3rd Team AP All-American. RH has broken most, if not all, of Marshall Faulk’s SDSU records.

Katz was totally wronged, and Riley needs to be fired. The Beavs are an embarrassment to the whole state. We need to pick it up like Oregon did. I’m tired of seeing them succeed and the Beavs get the shaft.

Seems like interesting choices, though with one year the options are limited.
In defense of Riley:
1. Riley is a great coach: weak lines, injuries, and inexperience has caused these past two seasons to be bad, but he is a great coach.
2. Riley and OSU signed Katz’s release so it shows their character.

Alumnus, you see Riley stubbornly stick with that bafoon Langsdorf to call the offensive plays, and you still call him a great coach. You see him lead us to a loss to Sacremento State, and two other shutouts this year and you call him a great coach. You see him come home with a 3-10 record and you call him a great coach. Hey we have you ID’d. You are Chip Kelley in disguise, aren’t you. Admit it.

I think that Riley is a good coach (not a great one) who is a great recruiter. I think Katz got hosed. He had a rough first game, and Riley felt pressure from the A.D., so he pulled Katz and went with Manion. I do see a considerable amount of future talent on the Beaver football squad. Losing Jaquizz was a dagger that the Beavs were not prepared for. I love the Beavers, and it was painful to watch them
Have such a tough season. So for now I will wear some Wisconsin Red and pray the ducks lay an egg… Again.
Go Beavs!! Riley I like you, but step up your game, and bring back our winning ways.
