My main story that came out of the Oregon State football team’s Tuesday scrimmage can be read here. It looks at RB Malcolm Agnew, WR Brandin Cooks and the defense.
The full team wasn’t on display. Besides all the guys not cleared for contact, OLB Cam Collins (abdominal), CB Jordan Poyer and WR Markus Wheaton where held out to keep them safe.
“We need to continue to refine, or we are not going to be as good as we can be,” coach Mike Riley said.
It was also a chance to look at others in their position. WR Obum Gwacham continues to play well at split end and flanker. Sean Martin and other younger CBs did well.
“We saw a lot of good things,” Poyer said. “There are a couple things that looked iffy, but we’ll look at the film and get better.”
And I haven’t said much about the OL. And that’s a good thing. The RBs are making forward progress, and there weren’t a ton of sacks. There were two, half of the first scrimmage.
It was mentioned in a previous blog that the DL is struggling, and DL coach Joe Seumalo credit the OL for that.
And with all the TEs hurt, Riley is considering moving some athletic DEs to TE temporarily.
Check out some more photos from Tuesday. The safeties talk with OSU video guy Jeff Taylor.
