Oregon State announced the start time of the Sept. 3 home season opening football game against Sacramento State at 1 p.m. with no TV coverage.
The only other TV time set so far is the Sept. 10 game at Wisconsin, which is set for 9 a.m. and will be shown on ESPN or ESPN2.
Also, sixth annual Football Workshop for Women is scheduled for Aug. 27 at Reser Stadium. This is an opportunity for the women to gain more understanding of the sport.
This year’s event will be hosted by former football players serving as honorary coaches. Included are former DEs Jeff Van Orsow and Jeff Kruskamp and PK Justin Kahut, among others. Participants will be involved in on-field instruction from the honorary coaches, including defensive and offensive drills.
Participants will get an inside look at some of the OSU football facilities, hear from members of the support staff, and have lunch and a question and answer session with the honorary coaches about life as an athlete and what comes after college.
For more information and to sign up, follow the link. Cost is $45

I think some of the no TV thing is that since Pac-12 is going in house for TV next season there is really no incentive for Root Sports (FSN-NW) to step up to the plate and cover this year unless it’s really financially advantageous for them; Clearly Sacramento State is not going to attact much of an audience outside of Oregon and thus TV isn’t going to make much money. In the past the long term relationship sealed the deal. There is no continuing relationship so why would they step forward. This is one part of the Larry Scott deal that leaves a bit of a question mark. Long term we’ll be fine, but we do have a potential issue this year with this.
Home games won’t affect me; it ‘s the road games I am worried about since I will be at the home games.
But I am glad that DeCarolis finally set the game time on a holiday weekend. He’s been dragging on this one.
