New Oregon State running back coach Chris Brasfield gave me an update on the his players after four weeks of spring practice.
There’s no official pick for a the starter, yet. Just more talk about running back by committee.
“We are starting to see what they can do as a group,” Brasfield said “We are getting better in pass protection. That’s been a focus for me. We are seeing their natural instincts. You coach as much as you can, but you have to leave room for instincts. They all have their strengths and weakness. They are all coachable. There will be a place in the offense to bring something. They know that, that it’s wide open. They’ll all contribute at running back or special teams.”
As reminders, here are some links on some of the ball carrier prospects for the fall: Ryan McCants, Jovan Stevenson and the freshmen Terron Ward and Malcolm Marable.
I’ve caught up with all of them with exceptions of Jordan Jenkins. Just as I was about to he injured his shoulder and was taken out for the spring. Read about that here. He should be back for the fall.
There are two more practices this week, Monday and Wednesday. The spring game will be 12:15 p.m. Saturday in Reser Stadium. Tickets will be $5 at the game.
Check out my Monday story on new PK Trevor Romaine. It goes over his style, success rate and about him.
Also, check out the OSU video of the RBs and Brasfield.
