Baseball honors
RHP Sam Gaviglio was named the Pacific-10 Conference Pitcher of the Week. He stuck 10 in a 2-0 shutout of Connecticut on Friday.
Three Huskies were allowed on base, two on a hit and one walk. Gaviglio faced 29 batters, two more than the minimum.
He has thrown 15 2/3 innings in two starts, allowing two unearned runs, eight hits and one walk while striking out 15. Opponents are batting just .143 against him.

Sam was lights out that game. It was really impressive. It was good to see him get back on track after a down year last year. Hopefully this is a sign that he will be back to the way he was pitching his freshman year.

I still hope Jacquizz proves me wrong, but his “weak” 40 time coupled with the tempestuous NFL labor situation really gives him long odds against a serious “pay day”.
I know Emmitt Smith wasn’t a “burner” and there are lots of stories about kids who proved the critics wrong, but there’s an infinitely higher number of college studs who never got a real opportunity at the next level (Ken Simonton, Yvenson Bernard, Mike Hass, et al).
Please, Quizz, prove me wrong. I want to eat so much crow I barf
