As noted in my story in Saturday’s GT, RB Jacquizz Rodgers was invited to the NFL Scouting Combine at the end of the month with DT Stephen Paea and C Alex Linnenkohl.

Rodgers’ uncle, Rodney Williams, called me back Monday to give me a quick update. Rodgers is working out with a personal trainer in Houston.

“He’s training hard as always,” Williams said.

Rodgers has not signed with an agent, yet, but will soon. “He knows what he’s going to do, but that’s not a focus right now,” Williams said.

Rodgers plans to be at the combine and OSU’s Pro Day in mid-March to test for the scouts, unless he blows the roof off the combine.

As for showing well for the scouts, there are no concerns from Rodgers. He’s in fine shape, healthy and has a proven track record. He’s just 5-foot-7.

“It will always be the same,” Williams said of Rodgers’ obstacle. “He has the production and shows well on film. It’s height, not size. The medical portion is not bad because he had no surgeries. He’s completely healthy. He had that shoulder (injury his freshman year) but he let that heal on its own.”

Paea noted on his Twitter that the stitches on his injured knee were being removed today. So, his training should get back up to speed soon.
