WR Brandin Cooks of Lincoln High in Stockton, Calif., verbally committed to the Oregon State football team, according to Rivals.com. He originally committed to UCLA in the summer, but changed his mind.
Cooks is a 5-foot-11, 165-pounder with 4.4 speed in the 40. He’s a four-star athlete and ranked No. 22 in the nation at his position, according to recruiting services. There were 10 scholarship offers from various West Coast schools.
Cooks visited OSU during the weekend of the Southern California victory. He was impresses with the program and school. There are no more visits planned as he said he’s a solid commitment.
This is OSU’s 14th known verbal commitment for the 2011 recruiting class, and third WR. Cooks is also the most highly ranked athlete on the list.

Nice… wonder if he is going to be a CB or WR? I know we are stacked at WR but we are lacking when it comes to true speedsters. Only James and Wheaton have elite speed at WR (I guess Catchings has pretty darn good speed but he doesn't play anymore for some reason). So this should be a nice pickup if he ends up at WR or CB.

it is great to see a four star commit to OSU. Hopefully he will pan out and be a star player for us. Now we need to get some four star lineman, defense and offense, to commit.

This kid is going to be incredible . If Langsdorf gives him the ability , this guy will score major points for the Beavs in 011 . He matches up with anything the Ducks have and he will bring lots of excitement to BeaverNation

People seem so confused that Catchings doesn’t play. He drops a lot of passes. It’s very simple.

I agree, he also runs sloppy routes and isn’t that fast. A pretty bad combo for a wr.
