STANFORD, Calif. — The Oregon State football team was dominated in every way possible Saturday night. Check out coach Mike Riley answering questions after the game.
“They are a top-10 team,” Riley said. “They are a good, efficient team. They are experienced and good at what they do, a great quarterback and they have a lot of stuff.”
Here’s a link to the main story in Sunday’s GT. Here’s a link to the game center play-by-play. Here’s a link to the Beavers Report Card. The grades don’t look good again with multiple Fs.
Here’s a link to a sidebar on the view of the team moments after players walked out of the locker room. I called them zombies because they were so stunned. Here’s a link to the notebook with a lot of stats and notes.
No. 7 Stanford made a statement to the BCS that it deserves to be an at-large team. QB Andrew Luck made his Heisman Trophy statement.
“I think we are the best one-loss team in the country,” Stanford LB Chase Thomas said. “Our offense is really hard to stop right now, they are so reliable. Our defense made so many strides from last year, I don’t see why we shouldn’t got to a BCS game.”
If the Beavers can’t stop a conventional offense, they aren’t going to do well against Oregon’s spread.
And if you didn’t read on the game thread, ESPN’s College Game Day will be in Corvallis. Here’s a link to my story on the details.
“Despite every thing, it’s going to be a Civil War game,” Riley said. “It’s going to be exciting. It’s going to be a chance to something really good when our season has been so up and down.”
Comment away and vent. It’s going to be a long week.

We're going to get killed by the Ducks for the nation to see on ESPN/ABC…wonderful prestige for our program.

Mike Riley and his Beaver teams are really a bunch of pretenders. Think about it …… I use to be such a over zealous fan of the Beavers but as of this year especially this year and with the Ducks huge success with a new head coach I am really losing interest fast in Mike Riley's ability to produce a pac-ten contender. Some how I really feel the progression and success in the last few years has stopped. Mike Riley can not and will not ever win a conference championship or play in a BCS bowl game. As for last nights game….. I have followed Stanford's recruiting over the last couple of years. Jim Harbaugh recruited seven four star recruits in 2008 five four star recruits 2009 and is on his way to another great recruiting year in 2010 and 2011. Wonder how many walk-ons he has on his offensive line? Enough said.

Beaverteeth , I think I have been in denial somewhat about the chances of our Beavs ever getting above the level they are now at but I think you are right , I don't see this team ever getting to where Oregon is now as long as Riley or his assistants are in charge . I almost think that if changes are made in coordinators and forward thinking coordinators are brought in and Riley lets them bring the schemes into the future then he can stay. There was a time that Riley was good for this team but I am thinking that time may have passed. I don't see OSU going after any high caliber coaches however due to the fact that education is the number one priority there and that I think is great , but I just don't see any changes in the future that will put us on the map in football. As long as coaching and recruiting styles remain the same , this is us , this is OSU football for the foreseeable future.

It takes time for some of us to admit the Beavs seem to have peaked, myself included. The last two years we were in the hunt for the Rose Bowl, until we got beat by the Ducks. And we ended up the Sun and the Las Vegas Bowls. I didn't realize until the Stanford game just how far we had fallen, and all Riley can say is he will have to review the tapes….

Even more disgusting than the Coug game. A team not prepared at all (coaching staff, are you listening?) to play a football game. Look what Kelly has done in just 2 years and Harbaugh (with a bare cupboard) in 4. Riley and staff have had ten years. Enough said.
