There’s no update on the ankle injuries of starting OLB Keith Pankey and OT Michael Philipp, coach Mike Riley said Sunday. X-rays are being done. Results are expected Tuesday.
DT Brennan Olander (pectoral) continues to rehab, but Riley doubts he’ll return this year. WR James Rodgers (knee) has a second surgery scheduled for the middle of December.
RB Will Darkins (head) and MLB Tony Wilson (head) will be back to practice full-time this week.
The Beavers plan to stay on their usual schedule this week despite Thanksgiving. The only thing the team will do for the players is a special dinner after Thursday’s practice.
Riley said the general mood of the team Sunday during meetings was upbeat, and drastically different from the previous week. He said the message to the players was do what you did the previous week so you can replicate Saturday’s performance.

Congratulations and best wishes to all OSU players, coaches, support staff, students and fans.
That was a magnificent victory over USC. Everyone did a super job. Keep up the good work.
Now let's get bowl eligible. Two more Pac-10 wins would be great, but I'd settle for one more. You can guess which one would mean the most.
GO BEAVS!!!

I haven't read through all the weekend articles yet, but was anyone else, stunned, thankful, impressed, amazed, and proud to see Riley getting a little pissed off on the sidelines? I don't think you can scream at an official to get a call changed, and being a screamer all the time makes you a loudmouthed whiner (see Stoops and Kelly), but for a guy like Riley who barely looks alive at times when his team is getting jobbed to start screaming, REALLY has an impact on the players, the coaches, and the officials. I would like to see a few more instances of Coach Riley really getting after someone. Not a bunch, but certainly a few. Great win, great leadership by Riley (who I've been very critical of).

I never want to see Mike Riley become a jerk like Stoops or Kelly! But to see him get fired up sent a very powerful and clear message to the entire team! It might have taken points off the board with a potential FG, but the reward in the end was well worth the risk! The Beavers gained much more than just 3 points by Mike Riley showing emotion, and showing his team that he had their backs. He showed tremendous leadership, and that he is a great leader. I really believe that this is the OSU team we will see from now on! In a strange way, I'm very proud of Mike Riley for doing what he did vs USC, and he gained even more of my respect! OSU is so much fun to watch when they play the way they did vs USC, Arizona and Cal! I'm proud of the whole team, and coaching staff! Great job Beavers!

I want to know who was calling the plays in place of Langsdorf and Riley… lol. I think that was the first time I have ever watched a Beaver game and thought "okay lets just keep it on the ground and run out the clock" and then seen the Beavers continue to stay aggressive all game long.
It is going to take at least as great of an effort to become bowl eligible. I don't think we got USC's best effort. I hope the players remember that WSU game and play with the same fire for the next 2. I will be happy win or lose as long as they bring it.

I would disagree with the assertion that Mike Riley does not get animated on the sidelines and that he does not "work the officials". I've seen him livid plenty of times. However he has a classy reputation, so he get's a pass.
The cameras are regularly trained on the coaches who "lose it" because they're road accidents… people can't help but look. A coach who's known for having class & not going Stoops whenever a call goes against him is not "interesting", and hence does not get shown on camera.

Great observation. That also explains why Nick Holt gets more TV time than Steve Sarkisian during UW games. The cameras are trained on Holt waiting for his head to explode.

Cliff,
Did you disable commenting on the newest 2 blogs on purpose? Also on your most recent blog you questioned why Stanford plays on real grass…. I believe grass is actually more expensive in the long run than even the nicest turf (not positive on this) but it takes a lot of work to maintain grass.

No, I didn't disable the comments. If they are not coming through, I'll have my tech guy get on it.
And, yes, grass is more expensive. I know. It's just funny not playing on syntheic any more.
