OT Darryl Jackson from Mayfair High in Lakewood, Calif., verbally committed to the Oregon State football team this week, according to Rivals.com.
Jackson is a 6-foot-7, 300 pounder. He had strong interest from UCLA and San Diego State. He signed a grant-in-aid to play at UCLA in August, according to the L.A. Times. He planned to greyshirt with the Bruins and enroll in January but changed his mind.
The year before Jackson signed with Southern Methodist but was not admitted to the school, even though he was an NCAA qualifier. He returned home to attend El Camino College while he sorted out his plans.
Jackson told Rivals that he hit it off with OL coach Mike Cavanaugh and CB Keith Heyward, and enjoyed his visit during Halloween weekend.
This is the 13th known commitment for the 2011 class, and second offensive lineman.

Nothing against Darryl Jackson, but with his track record, until he is in school and at practice I will be skeptical. Sounds like he really doesn't know what he really wants.

Ditto that. I fear we'll be mentioning him in the same breath as Simi Kuli.

Does Jackson still have 4 years of eligibility, or is it now down to 3 years because of the JC deal?

You may be right, but not all those who wander are lost.
Hopefully he will want to greyshirt, get acclimated and be ready to play spring ball?

This was his greyshirt season, meaning he's still hasn't enrolled full time. He could come early like the spring, or wait until the fall. So he has five to play four.

This is great for OSU! Cavanaugh must have been reading this blog! (Ok, I'm joking) No really, OSU really needs big, tough, quality guys on the OL, and at 6'7 300 lbs, you can't coach that frame! He will be able to help immediately on OSU's O-Line. Welcome to Beaver Nation Darryl!
