First off, here’s a link to the latest in the weekly positional series breakdown of the Oregon State football team. This week is on the TEs.
Here’s a link to the weekly oddball Q&A. This week it’s on K Justin Kahut. As a preview, check out the above video of his dream date if his girlfriend allows him to have one. I love the big hair and she does a great job on a classic Heart song.
QB Ryan Katz was more vocal than usual this week as you can see in in the blogs and GT stories this week. Here are some leftover thoughts of interest.
What’s the team mentality after the WSU loss?
“A lot of guys were not prepared for this. We want to win every week. And now we have to come together as a team even more, and focus on USC.”
What’s the mindset going into the USC game?
“A couple times we focused on who we are playing or going home. It’s all about what we do. We haven’t been playing well. We have to try and change that.”
How?
“Have a different attitude. I don’t know if we thought we were going to roll over Washington State, but obviously that wasn’t the case. We have to want to win these games.”
What are your thoughts on the latest hit ever on Quizz against WSU?
“I felt that first play of the was big. They set the attitude for the game. No one really did anything. I was surprised. I was mad. I don’t say take a personal foul, but no one did anything.”
Was that addressed this week?
“I hope so. I think guys have been hearing it this week. It’s up to them to decided. We have to look in the mirror to figure out who we are. We can’t let stuff like that fly. It’s an attitude.
What are your thoughts on USC?
“They are a big physical group, and they have a good defense. But it’s about us. We have to do what we have to do to put points on the board.

I remember when Terrell Owens danced on the Dallas Cowboy's midfield Star a few years back and got ragdolled by a least one Cowboy, I think it was Emmitt Smith. The first play last Saturday, our Star got danced on and mocked by some clown from a second rate school, on our sideline, and all our players did was stand there in righteous indignation, waving their arms about and looking to the refs. There had to be at least one 3rd stringer willing to take it for the team and steamroll the WSU player, but no, nobody did a thing, and it was shameful and hard for me to comprehend. That is what people are talking about when they say, " no heart", there just doesn't seem to be any this year.

It's actually pretty sickening that nobody did anything. I know we all are disappointed when we don't win, but to get blown out and physically pummeled like they did is inexcusable. That's when support starts to wain for the team and program. Lack of effort/heart/grit whatever you want to call it is unacceptable. I love Riley and think he's a terrific coach and great for the university, but continued play like that will get you fired. Inexcusable and disgusting!

Agreed. I don't normally want personal fouls but this year I wouldn't mind a little bit of good ol' Dennis Erickson. I would probably cheer on a player who fought back, even if they were ejected. It would show me that the player cares. It is clear to me that the refs are only calling let hits on QB's out of bounds, everyone has been fair game for years. The Beavers need to know that the refs aren't calling the games right, that means they can take their dirty shots and get away with it. Heck, maybe it will take a brawl in a game before the refs start to call the games right.
