Oregon State DT Brennan Olander is out for the Saturday’s game with Washington State and maybe the rest of the season, coach Mike Riley said Tuesday.
Olander injured his pectoral muscle close to the shoulder during the UCLA game on Saturday. A full doctor report will be in later. It could be torn.
“I have not gotten word from the doctor for how long, but I think it could be the remainder of the season,” Riley said.
Andrew Seumalo will moved from DE to DT to fill out the rotation with Stephen Paea and Kevin Frahm as the starter. Evan Hull will be the the No. 3 DT.
TE Brady Camp (back) was cleared to return this week. WR Jordan Bishop (shoulder) will try to come back fully this week. He worked out Sunday.
DT Stephen Paea (knee) will be slowed during practice early in the week.
There about 270 Club Level tickets left for the game. They go for $225 each, before service charges.
Also, the Dec. 4 Civil War game will kick off at 12:30 p.m. and be broadcast on ABC.
And here’s a great Jacquizz Rodgers quote. He was asked about the play calling and how fans have ripped OC Danny Langsdorf:
“We just have to sustain drives,” Rodgers said. “I wouldn’t question Coach Langsdorf. He’s a mastermind doing this, and he gets paid to do this. He has more knowledge than all the fans. We just have to do better.”
Quizz was so good today, here’s another quote to highlight:
“Offensively, late in the game, I don’t ready into too much stuff but I just read we have have 26 possessions in the fourth quarter and two scores. We just suck at closing out games.”

pretty tough to sustain drives with Danny's playcalling. A true mastermind. 14 points vs the bruins when Chip's playcalling dialed up 60!

just a slight difference in athletes don't you think? Ducks are better not because they have a better OC but because they have more gifted athletes….and its not even close.

Do you really think Danny is as creative a playcaller as Chip, even with the difference in athleticism. Unbelieveable! Athletes were pretty even in ability 2 years ago, Chip's only year as OC. 65-38.

Chip still calls plays I believe. Last year was pretty even.

correct, Chip does call the plays, even though he has an OC. Perhaps Mike should take a hint.

Dude Chip was OC there for 2 years before becoming head coach. Remember the whole Dixon for Heisman deal? That was the first year of Kelly.

I have to agree, when was the last time the Beavers scored 60 points on somebody? 2008 against Washington State we scored 66 points. Oregon is doing that with regularity….

I think Lagsdorf is pretty good but I also think he can improve. Quizz still has some learning to do… plenty of people get paid for doing stuff the suck at.

I mean no disrespect ean, but Langsdorf can be paid by someone other than OSU for getting paid for doing stuff he sucks at! Maybe a Big West or Big Sky type of school? If he sucks at what he's doing for OSU, then he needs to take his talents and skills elsewhere! OSU needs more than just someone to fill a position, they need the Best!

I've been a Beaver fan for over 30 years and I too have lived through the good, the bad, and a whole lot of ugly. We are no longer the victims of being the Pac-10's door mat for 28 years! OSU has been on the verge of a breakthrough (BCS kind of year) for the last 3-4 years. How can we accept going backwards now? We have Raised Reser, The Truax Indoor practice facility, New Sports Performance center weight room, New Players Lounge, better recruiting classes, a larger fanbase, increased donor participants, more funding, etc…! Since 1999, OSU has gone to 9 bowl games! In that same time span OSU has had one 11 win season, one 10 win season, two 9 win seasons, three 8 win seasons, two 7 win seasons, and two 5 win seasons! I understand the ups and downs in college football (5, 6, and 7 win seasons). But, I also understand complacency, and OSU's fans MUST NOT ACCEPT COMPLACENCY! We must not accept this season as the norm. OSU just lost two games (UW & UCLA) because of coaching (PERIOD) This has to be addressed in the offseason! Not Mike Riley, but Banker, Langsdorf, and Cavanaugh. OSU needs to change with the modern era of college football!

Don't forget Cav is working with mostly walk ons(What's that say for our recruiting?) I'm so damn tired of these "uplifting" stories of kids going from walk on to scholarship. We seem to have more than most. A kid is a walk on because he is not a D1 athlete and no school wanted him. Cav is not a miracle worker, but he is one of the staff and bears some responsibility for not getting any lineman worthy of playing in the Pac 10. So get the hell out thereand recruit some linemen with some ability!

Here here! I would argue that OSU's offensive line is one of the worst offensive lines in the last 10 years at OSU. What concerns me the most is according to most/all the recruiting sites and sources, OSU has only 1 verbal commitment from an Offensive Linemen so far!

I've read a lot of crazy overreactions the past few days, but saying that Cav should be fired is easily the craziest of them all.
You obviously cannot grasp or identify the difference between poor coaching and a lack of player talent if you're calling for the head of one of college football's top OL coaches.

Ok Porcupinebeaver, because as you say, I cannot grasp or identify the difference between poor coahing and lack of talent. Do you mind telling me who's responsible for recruiting the Offensive Line talent? Do you mind backing up with facts why you think Mike Cavanaugh is one of CFB's top OL coaches? I'm interested in hearing your input, or anyone else's for that matter!

Obviously you also don't understand how OSU recruits. Recruiting is done regionally… the position coach is not necessarily the primary recruiter for the players at his position. Yes, the position coach becomes involved, but Cav's primary recruiting duty is players in Arizona, regardless of position. Which, by the way, he has done very well with – Phillip, R. Robinson, Weaton, DJ Welch, etc.
You're not making a great case to show that you understand where the problem lies.

I'll leave you with a few quotes to ponder:
"Before you can win, you have to believe you are worthy." – Mike Ditka;
"Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all time thing. You don't win once in a while, you don't do things right once in a while, you do them right all the time. Winning is habit. Unfortunately, so is losing." – Vince Lombardi
The last quote I'll leave you with pertains to the current coaching staff!
"Coaches who can outline plays on a black board are a dime a dozen. The coaches who win are the ones who can motivate their players." – Vince Lombardi

I have to say that the comments here are a little out of hand and some unfounded. I have been very critical of this team but of Langsdorf and Cav I am not critical. Cav doesn't need to be defended, you understand football you know how lucky we are to have him. You can kiss the success we have a long hard goodbye without him. Second, Langsdorf is the one who brought the fly sweep, the trick plays and the other creativity in. Yes his play calling sometimes struggles but any young coach will see that happen. Langsdorf will have a shot at being a headcoach someday.
Anyone that wants to point fingers at the offense should point fingers at the defense first. You simply cannot win a game in which your defense allows well over 50% third down conversions (with a backup QB) and over 200 yards rushing. Our defense was physically dominated and Banker seemed confused throughout the entire game.
Anyone wanting 60 points a game simply won't get it and is foolish to think they deserve it. The offense that OSU runs is about ball control. A ball control offense scores 30-40 when it is maxed out and doesn't allow the other team to touch the ball. Frankly, if we can't win a bunch of games averaging 28 points a game (like we are this season) we don't deserve to win games.
Now the comments about talent/recruiting are certainly fair game, that is the reason our team is 4-4. wcjr, you should know that a walk-on is not an athlete that no one else wanted. Clay Matthews was a stud linebacker for USC and is a study Green Bay LB. He walked on at USC. There were plenty of teams that wanted him. You would be correct in saying that most of our walk-ons don't have many offers but we still in fact recruit athletes who have offers to be walk-ons.
wcjr says:

Beavers have worst OL in recent memory. Big part of that is all the walk-ons that were judged not capable of being D-1 players. If they were, they would have had offers elsewhere, which they probably did at lower division schools.
