Check out the above GT produced highlight video of the Oregon State football team’s homecoming victory over Cal on Saturday. Here’s the follow up story in Monday’s GT.
Coach Mike Riley gave a long wounded list after the game Sunday: DT Castro Masaniai (shoulder), LB Kevin Unga (bruised chest), OG Grant Johnson (stinger), OT Michael Philipp (knee), WR Jordan Bishop (knee), TE Colby Prince (knee), TE Joe Halahuni (wrist, knee) and C Alex Linnenkohl (ankle).
Masaniai’s injury is the only long-term one. He’s already listed out for Saturday’s UCLA game. TE Brady Camp has another doctor’s appointment Monday for his back and there should be word Tuesday if he can come back this season.
Riley said WR James Rodgers will have another surgery on his knee at a later date. It was planned to be done in stages. Riley said he’s out for spring practice, that is if he gets his medical hardship waiver. Rehab will go through the summer.

BeaverDon…….Very good point but the only thing that matters to me anymore with this Beaver team is that they are going to get rolled badly in the CW game at Reser and that is going to be really hard to take . Three years in a row the Ducks will have beaten the Beavers. Last year was close but this years Duck team is amazing. Where did they get all these talented players? They are head and shoulders better then the next pac-ten contender.

With Castro out are they just going to go with a 3 man rotation of Frahm,, Paea, and Olander at DT?

Cliff,
I've been thinking about the Cal game, it seemed to me that the Beavs played great for 2 1/2 quarters, and went up 35- 0,. but they let up for the last 1 1/2 Quarters. I was watching the Oregon game, they had the starters in on the last play of the game. The Beavs didn't finish Washington and we got beat, they just don't seem to have a 'killer' attitude. Once they get the lead they go into a cruise control and seem to let up rather than contiuing to bear down. They are not scoring in the 4th quarter, why are the letting up on teams?

I think there was plenty of killer instinct, BD.
Granted it should have been 35-0 at the half (or at least 31-0) but mistakes happen.
The Beaver offense let the foot off the gas with a 35 point lead and there was nothing at all wrong with that. The defense didn't let up at all. True the "new guys" got burned for a big play at the end and lost the shutout, but who cares? The experience they got was invaluable.
Would you expect… or would you want a Mike Riley led team to destroy it's opponent by 60 points? What more are you going to learn about your team playing against an opponent who's fallen apart at the seams?
If the defense had gotten soft & lackadaisical, I'd agree with you… but they didn't. And there's nothing wrong with showing some mercy when you're up 35 against hapless opposition.

It is not just the Cal game, try this stat on for size here is the scoring by quarters:
Score by quarters 1st 2nd 3rd 4th OT Total
Oregon State 55 73 55 13 13 209
Opponents 35 66 37 40 14 192
The Beavs have been outscored in the 4th quarters this season 40 to 13, that is a huge difference. This is the type of thing I mean they go let up on the opposition. What is wrong with showing mercy is that it seems to be habit with the Beavers regardless of whether or not they are leading.

Look we can argue all day whether it was the Beavers dominating or Cal rolling over. Whether the Beavers let off the gas or not but it really doesn't matter. All that matters is the Beavers continue to get better every game and bring the fire every week. It is going to take a ton of hard work and a few lucky bounces to turn the Civil War into a war for the Roses again and it is going to take even more luck and hard work to pull that one off.

All I can say is Chip doesn't ease up even with the second team in there at the end and look where the Ducks are compared to us. Seems as if too many Beavers are satisfied with Riley's Mr. Nice Guy attitude. After our 35th point the offense wasn't even worth watching! That's not how you take the next step as Oregon has done. And please, please , please, Justin-quit the program now! You are not a division 1 kicker and whomever is behind you could not possibly do any worse.

GB64, big difference between quitters and people like beaverteeth who are just being realistic. I spent my first 21 years in Corvallis before going to Eugene of all places for grad school and have many Duck friends. This makes the current situation even more difficult for me to stomach, esp. since I have lived and died with the Beavers for well over sixty years. You, my friend, need to start living in the real world. It absolutely kills me to say this, but on the evening of 12/4 65-38 might be looking pretty good to a lot of us. Not a quitter, just a realist.

I have only been a fan for half of those 60 years but I have never , ever doubted that this team could get it done even when it was realistically doubtful. We have seen number one after number one fall off the top of the ladder this year . Last week California decimated Arizona State , this week ? Great teams have been upset by mediocre even bad teams all season so far , why should the Ducks be any different ? Anything can happen on any given Saturday my friend.
Be a doubting Thomas if you will but should we win the Civil War kindly step aside as our bandwagon rolls right on by.

I have NEVER, EVER stepped off the bandwagon. I was one of the few still on it during the 28 straight losing seasons. Never m issed a game, including most away games. Apology accepted.

I apologize for nothing. I simply cannot abide by anyone who throws in the towel long before the game is played . I know what we are both used to as far the Beavers but surely you have seen the changes in the last ten years and yes more need to be made without a doubt but they are happening. I really believe that one day this team will be on the top rung of that ladder I mentioned earlier.
I believe truly that the Ducks can be beat and we may be the team to do it. We still have some things to get done before we can do that but I think the coaches will prep us the best they can and I know the team will work their butts off to get it done. The Ducks look unbeatable right now , but many " unbeatable " teams college and pro have fallen when least expected. Oregon like any team has weaknesses and faults and they can be exploited if done correctly.
I have lived with 35 years of up and downs with the Beavers but I will always believe in them and believe that they can beat any team any time , when they are ready and if they are ready for Oregon they will win.
This team needs our full support , not a stadium half full as it was disappointingly on Saturday . It needs our constant support and faith in them , not doubters no matter our personal experience.

And if I hear one more Autzen crowd boo after one of their linemen clips some defenseless d-lineman 30 yards behind the play then I'll just have to make a video montage of their o-line's dirty play resulting in these not fake injuries. Or maybe we can petition the state to take our alum's name off their stadium?

I am not a quitter just a father who graduated myself and two sons from OSU and have matured as a fan. I have watched many Beaver football and basketball games over the years and I love the Beavs but I have come to this place where one has got to be honest about the limitations this football team has. Baring LMJ or DT getting hurt this Duck team is one of the most efficient scoring offensive machines I have ever witness in college football and the other side of the ball isn't bad either.
