The Oregon State football game against California on Oct. 30 has not been picked for a television broadcast, OSU announced. That means kickoff will be at 1 p.m., unless something weird happens.
Glory, glory hallelujah. I need a deadline break after a double overtime game that started at 7:27 p.m. on Saturday night.
The wrestling team, ranked as high as 14th in the various preseason polls, finally put out its schedule. It’s kind of odd with one home meet until Jan. 21.
The season begins Nov. 13 at Boise State. The lone home meet until the end of the calendar year is Nov. 27 against Simon Fraser.
The home meet stretch is Jan. 21 (Cal Poly), 23 (Stanford), 30 (Boise State), Feb. 11 (Arizona State) and 13 (Cal State Fullerton).
Basically, all the conference meets are at home. Adding to that, the Pac-10 meet is in Corvallis on Feb. 27.
Another scheduling note is the gymnastics team hosts the NCAA West Regional this season on April 2.

Can't make the game because of my kids soccer games if it is 1pm, so let's hope it finds its way to 7:15 OR finds its way on TV sometime during the day.

Let's ask Cliff what he thinks needs to be done to improve OSU's Defense? D-Line, LB's, secondary, scheme, philosophy, forcing teams to punt, better athletes etc…? He might even write an article about it, who knows?

If you were Mike Riley, what would you specifically work on during this bye week? Anyone, Anyone?

1. Tackling.
2. Run Blocking.
3. Additional reps for Poyer, Collins, Wilson at their positions (at the expense of reps for the people they share time with – in other words, get them ready for a larger role/more playing time and then give them more game reps.
4. Play sets designed to take advantage of Wheaton and Poyer's abilities specifically to address James' loss; return sets for both (imagine Poyer throwing back to Wheaton on the other side of the field), Poyer in the "WildCat" formation – Quizz lines up as QB, Poyer as RB, then Quizz runs out to a reciever position, Poyer takes a direct snap and can run or throw (he's a former QB/Baseball player and obviously has good speed).

If I was Mike Riley I will tell fan base to relax. We are 2-1 in Conference and we we were 1 play away from being 3-0. We play 4 of 6 at home to finish the season.
Our Defense held UW to zero points for over 2 1/2 quarters and is slowely making progress.
Katz is learning with everygame.
We should be favored in our next 4 games. Being 7-3 going to Stanford would be a great thing and a possibility and we would again control our own Rosebowl destiny
The only big move I hope Riley makes in the BYE week is moving Poyer into the Starting Line Up. I actually am a Hardin fan but Poyer is a play maker on a team thats desperately needs play makers on the Defense
GO BEAVS!

Great comment, Corvbeav… saved me the time to write it myself

This defense has given up over 100 points in the last two civil wars, is ranked near the bottom (nationally, not just the pac-10) in almost every category, and does not seem to have the capability to play 60 minutes in any game.
I disagree with the relax, we're one play away from being 3-0 theory. This team had an opportunity to go 3-0, and came out awful. Katz looked tired, the defense gave up 21 points really quickly, and let's not forget the quality of the opponent. The fuskies are at best a middle of the pac team, and our defense gave a couple of their players personal records.
Our defense is horsebleep. There may or may not be a need for drastic changes, but there certainly should be changes.

Corbeav ,
Why should we go into Stanford 7-3 ? What is wrong with 9 – 1 ? teams with more than one loss usually do not make the Rose Bowl let alone win a national championship or even make the top five. All around us , throughout the nation and indeed our own conference , teams are improving , using new offenses and defenses . What are we doing ? Stagnating and settling for the best we can do as long as we finish above 500 and make a bowl game no matter which one it is. Beaver fans have lived in this world of mediocrity so long that we have come to accept it for life as we will forever know it. It doesn't have to be like that. Dennis Erikson , yes Dennis Erikson , not Mike Riley showed us we can do better. I don't know whats going to work but it is definitely time for a change. Economically , football brings in revenue to Universities more than any other sport. If Osu wants to improve its bottom line and get the star recruits, then we need to aim upward , not for the middle

Way to dream big, but unless you can figure out a way for a 3-3 team to "lose" two losses, the best we could possibly be going into the Stanford game is 7-3 (6-1 in conference). Also, the last four years under Riley the Beavs have a better win percentage than the four years under Erickson. If you want to debate if one phenomenal year is better than eight or nine good years, that's a legitimate debate….but to say that the Beavs are a "mediocre" team suggests they should be ranked around 60th in the country every year, when in reality, we're one of the top 30 year in and year out.

your correct , I neglected to look at the schedule to see where we could be by the day we meet Stanford. We could be 6-1 by then but with USC and California in the offing before then , 4-3 I still hope for 6-1 by then but who knows , a major miracle might happen , right ? I am still believing we can beat the Ducks this year , that's my dream anyway. I think overall , maybe it is best to live with whatever we come away with this season and make those changes during the off season that have to be made and build the team up proper so we not only challenge the Ducks for the Pac , but win it next year
