TUCSON, Ariz. — Check out the postgame video of Oregon State football coach Mike Riley talking to the media after the Beavers upset No. 9 Arizona 29-27 on Saturday night. He talks about the condition of WR James Rodgers and the night QB Ryan Katz had.

Here’s a link to my main story in Sunday’s GT on how Katz emerged at the main. Here’s a link to the sidebar on Rodgers. Here’s the report card. Here’s the notes package. Here’s the game center, which is the play-by-play.

Rodgers update
News wasn’t positive about Rodgers. He left the game on crutches. There will be an MRI on Sunday, but results won’t be know until Tuesday.

“James’ condition is not good,” Riley said. “I’m not going to tell you the specifics of it (until later).”

If this is a long-term injury Rodgers is eligiblie for a medical hardship, according to OSU. He has not redshirted and not played 30 percent of the season because he missed last week with a concussion.

The rule is if a player has played less than 30 percent of his season he is eligible. If the NCAA says he played in four games, that 33 percent of his season.

If it’s taken into account that he missed half of this last game and a quarter of the Boise State game due to injuries, he’s well below 30 percent.

Wheaton quote board
“I honestly didn’t think he could make it,” Wheaton said of Katz’ 46-yard TD pass to him. “It was 50 yards, and it was on the run. I didn’t think he would see me.”

“Their D-line was pretty powerful,” Wheaton said. “That’s were their strength was, so we had to attack the DBs. That’s why we opened it up.”

“We didn’t panic as much because of last week, but we need him,” Wheaton said of the loss of Rodgers.
