Check out these two videos that discuss the offense of the Oregon State football team as the Beavers prepare for the Pac-10 opener against Arizona State.
The top one is of RB Jacquizz Rodgers and bottom one of QB Ryan Katz.
The Beavers know all the issues. They need to run the ball better, protect better and finish plays. Improvement is needed in every area.
On a funny side note, coach Mike Riley was asked about the trend of helmets flying off. He pointed out that there are two reasons — chin straps not on properly and hair.
Guys who lose their helmets have big hair. That fits with Rodgers, DT Castro Masaniai and Keith Pankey. So, Rodgers was asked about cutting his hair.
“No one is going to make me cut my hair,” he said.
Here’s a link to my main story in Wednesday’s GT. It looks at OSU’s No. 1 weapon — the return game. Here’s a link to my notebook that leads off with the Fiesta Bowl team being honored.

Did anyone hear that Boise State's Venable was suspended for a whole half against New Mexico State? The WAC Commisioner said Venable should have been flagged for a flagrant foul and ejected from the game. He announced a one-game suspension, which was appealed by Boise State, resulting in a half-game suspension by decision of the WAC *un*sportsmanship committee. Just another license for this kind of behavior. No wonder he does the same thing over and over.
