The Oregon State football team had a bye during Week 2 of the season, but there was plenty of going on around the Pacific-10 Conference.
It was a better overall week for the conference with several easy opponents such as Norther Arizona, The Citadel and Montana State and wins against major conference teams.
There was some movement in the rankings, so here we go.
1. Oregon (2-0): A blowout at Tennessee, even if the Volunteers are down, is a pretty good accomplishment. The Ducks should be cruising once Pac-10 games hit for them.
2. Arizona (2-0): It was a glorified scrimmage against The Citadel. The Wildcats were efficient in their rout. RB Nic Grigsby and QB Nick Foles were on their game.
3. Oregon State (0-1): The Beavers took the week off to improve and get ready for the home opener Saturday against Louisville. That’s a must-win game.
4. Stanford (2-0): It was an impressive beating of UCLA in the Pac-10 opener for both teams. The run game is still there without Toby Gerhart and QB Andrew Luck was on.
5. Cal (2-0): The Bears mauled the Buffaloes in the first game for Colorado against a future Pac-12 team. Cal could be a conference contender if it keeps this up.
6. USC (2-0): Virginia gave the Trojans more of a test than Hawaii in a 17-14 game. It was a good workout for them to grind out a win.
7. Washington (1-1): Big game by Jake Locker and Jermaine Kearse led to a big win over Syracuse.
8. Arizona State (2-0): It was a relatively easy win over Northern Arizona 41-20, but giving up 20 points to a lower level team isn’t a good sign. These easy early wins are musts for the Sun Devils.
9. UCLA: (0-2): The Bruins have been known for late-season slides lately. If that holds true this season they are in trouble. Stanford just overpowered them.
10. Washington State (1-1): A much needed win over Montana State helps overall, but a late field goal secured the 23-22 victory. Cougars needed a big rally for this.

Reno & teeth,
I understand what both of you are saying, however anyone who has seen oregon play can't help but notice the speed they have on both sides of the ball! Also, their offense is a Juggernaut! The Pac-10 is much more competitive than ESPN or anyone else gives credit to. I think oregon and everyone else will be tested each week!
Cliff, care to join in? What do you think are the limitations the Beavers have? What needs to be done for our (OSU's) football program to get to the next level?

OSU4life just remember the beavers have many limitations the ducks really do not have any. Chip Kelly has taken the ducks to the Rose-bowl in his first year of coaching. This year the ducks look like they could win it all. Riley is known for getting the most out of his players for what he has. (limitations on recruiting). Three walk on offensive lineman that are starting this year for the beavers are you kidding me! In the last three games Quiz has had sub-par numbers because of sub-par blocking and what has happened to the beavers historic lock-down defense?…… it has disappeared in the last three years you can not win games like this. LM James for the Ducks is tearing it up he is unbelievable. How long has Riley been coaching the Beavers? Also look at the ducks baseball team in just their second year they ended up with a better record then the beavers. It just frustrates the hell out of me.

Oregon looks scary good, which pains me very much to say. I have to keep telling myself that it is only week 2, and there is still A LOT of football left to be played! A lot can happen in 12 weeks. It sure is amazing what money does for a program!

What are some of the limitations that you think the Beavers have? Are they primarily financial?

Before we declare Oregon as the best team in the conf or the nation, for that matter, let's wait until they have played a respectable opponent. New Mexico? Come on. NM was routinely viewed (and voted on ESPN) as one of the worst programs in the country. 1-11 last year. Says it all. Tennessee? I believe they were 5-6 last year and had major talent / staff defections once Kiffin left for USC. New coaching staff, a freshman QB in Simms doesnt say much for that team at this point. Now Oregon plays Portland St., whom they should beat by 50-60 pts. I cant wait until Oregon actually plays a team with a respectable talent, coaching and on the road.
