This just in on the high-speed GT crime wire (Rachel Beck): Oregon State football team RB recruit Terron Williams-Ward was cited for third-degree theft after he was admitted stealing $15 of UO vs. OSU stickers from the bookstore.
Ward is greyshirting, which means he won’t enroll as a student until the winter term. He’s from the Bay Area and played for Concord De La Salle.
Update
Details are coming in, and it looks like he just made a mistake. He was in the bookstore and bought some shirts and other items, then he stopped by a table with the stickers and took some. He told officer he thought they were free, then realized they probably weren’t, but took them anyway.

Oregon has every advantage that a football team could want and yet All of Uncle Phill's money still can't buy you a Rosebowl win. How long has it been since the PAC-10 has gone winless in BCS games other then when USC played in the NC and still finished second in the polls. It's been about 10 years. way to break the streak and put BlOhiostate on top.

This isn't good. In all seriousness, what should be done?
1) Tell him to pack his bags and hit the road?
2) Allow him to walk on?
3) Have the coaches talk to him about what it means to play football at OSU, and that he's walking a thin line, but still allow him to be a part of the team in the winter?
4) something else?
What are your thoughts Cliff. or anyone else?

Give him one more chance. Punishment: make him work at the bookstore @ $15 for the entire day, then use that money earned to pay for the stickers. Make it clear it's a two strike policy and any further infractions and he's off the team. http://angrybeavs.com

I like the two strike policy and making him work at the bookstore. I have faith that Mike Riley and his staff will do the right thing!

Then why did you report it without the whole story in the first place??

Things are always fluid with more information coming up. That happens every day.

I hear that Ole Miss is looking for Running Backs!

Let those among us who didn't step on our privates at least once when we were young cast the first stone. He must be shamed and mortified, and that's probably enough. My guess is he'll never do something this stupid again.
What to do? Coach Riley can have "the talk" with Terron and that should be that, end of punishment.

All good suggestions, except for the Ole Miss comment.

I agree with tommiet about all kids having a little doofus in them, but there has to be a consequence along with the "shame and mortified" part.

It's not worth straining the DLS (recruiting) pipeline over $15. One minor mess up should be allowed. If they don't learn and repeat, then it's time for the boot.

JackBeav,
That last line in your comment that I just killed was way over the line.

Why? It's a method used by practiced thieves that the police inform business owners to watch for. I don't make human nature. I just know what it is as told to me by friends in various police forces.

Gotcha.
But way over the line? Come on.

Something tells me it was an honest mistake. I've seen the pile of stickers in the beaver book store, and I could see how somebody might mistake them for free items. Besides he bought other stuff on the same trip. If you're going to steal something, it's probably not worth the effort to steal a pile of duplicate stickers. I like that the dude is getting into the rivalry with UO at least.

I believe him,Hell he probably gets OSU stickers for free being a football player. Also his brother, T.J. Ward, makes millions playing in the NFL so I doubt he's short on cash and did it because he can't afford them.Just an honest stupid mistake.Charges will be dropped.

Aaron-It absolutely made my day. The ONLY reason I commented is because of all the comments BEAVER fan made on DUCK sites to stir the pot when we went through our problems. Stealing is stealing. I don't care if it's worth $10 or $1,000 kid knew right/wrong. If it was our backup kicker stealing nobody would care. Who are you to comment on LJ? Where you in the room? Some crazy
ex was stalking him maybe he just defended himself.
I hate to break it but Duck fan hates beav fan just as much if you want to talk hatred. I personally don't hate OSU. I respect the program and have many OSU buds. It is a friendly rivalry….unlike Boise.
Riley-Oregon has dominated the NW recently but I'm not acting like we're Florida/Bama/SC yet. Our program is just reaching the peak.
SC has stood in our path for years now…. Troy is falling as we speak.
Ducks gave tOSU a good run they were down 2 in the 4th. You try tackling TPryor. Ducks are just now getting to where they need to be. (LSU 9/3/11!)

"He told officer he thought they were free, then realized they probably weren’t, but took them anyway."
OK, if the answer is he thought they were free and there was confusion, I could probably accept that. But if he knew they were not, and took them anyway, then what the heck? What a moron.

Well he isn't a beaver yet so technically it was just a family member of a Duck star player …..

Have fun Beavsrajoke. Hope it made your day. You are the perfect example of why U of O fans are hated everywhere. We dont hate you because you have had a more successful footbal program, you guys have that is obvious. You are there and we are on the way up. We ALL know that. The reason we hate you and the ducks is because you are the typical duck fan. Pompous, arrogant. But go ahead have your fun. Taking stickers and choking your girlfriend are two different things.
