Here are some game notes headed into the No. 24 Oregon State football team’s opener Saturday against No. 6 TCU in Cowboys Stadium.
Here’s a link to my main Tuesday GT story on OSU’s view of TCU. Here’s the TCU scouting report. Here’s the notebook, leading off with S Cameron Collins moving to LB.
This is the first time since 1961 the Beavers and the season-opening opponent are both ranked in the top 25. OSU was No. 17 and Syracuse No. 10 back then.
This is the first regular season trip to Texas since 1996 when the Beavers went to Baylor. OSU has been to two El Paso Sun Bowls in 2006 and 2008.
OSU is 24-18-1 against the Mountain West Conference: 5-4 vs. BYU, 1-1 vs. Colorado State, 3-1 vs. New Mexico, 1-2 vs. San Diego State, 2-3 vs. UNLV, 9-5-1 vs. Utah and 3-2 vs. Wyoming.
C Alex Linnenkohl and WR James Rodgers are OSU’s active leaders in starts with 26. Linnenkohl’s have been consecutive. DT Stephen Paea is right behind them with 25.
ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit released his Herbie Awards. He named running back Jacquizz Rodgers the most exciting player and No. 2 ankle-breaker. Coach Mike Riley was named the most underrated coach.
Brad Nessler, Todd Blackledge and Holly Rowe will be the ESPN broadcasters for Saturday’s OSU game with Texas Christian.

Will Collins play some at OLB against TCU, or is it too early to make the switch?

why the switch so late? He was in line to have a lot of playing time at safety, now he will be too late to make an impact at lb, dont you think?

Suesi starts. Collins may play in certain situations as the fifth DB or fourth LB. It's being developed.
The change now is because Collins wanted it due injuries a big guy gets cutting and running as a DB.
