It was ball signing day for the Oregon State football team (see above). Players had 100 balls to sign that will be given away during the course of the season.
Players tried to avoid the writer’s cramp or made a big stink about it. Watching their eyes grow was pretty funny.
Senior C Alex Linnenkohl was named to watch list for the Rimington Trophy, which goes to the top center in the nation.
On a side note, OSU is still running that vote for the fourth-quarter song. Why is this song not on the list?
Practice notes
WR James Rodgers suffered a bruised left shoulder. He slipped an ice pack under the pads and watched the last bit of practice. Coach Mike Riley considered it minor.
Practice was cut short an hour as the Beavers are trying to heal the nagging nicks and dings. There was 20 minutes of young guys after the veterans started to leave.
QB Ryan Katz continues to bond with his offensive linemen. They had to do extra running after practice, so he ran with them. He did a good job of not leaving them behind.

What is Cummings going to do on Special Teams? Cover kicks or maybe return punts? Is he going to play at all at WR? Just seems like a waste of a year if he's going to takle punt and kick returners.

He'll do a variety of special teams – block and cover. He's also working in behind James Rodgers at flanker.

Sounds like the WR roation might be pretty deep in games or at the least has a lot of options.
SE: Nichols, Wheaton, Munoz, and Catchings can play this position too
SB: Bishop, NIchols, and maybe Gwacham
FL: Rodgers, Catchings, Hatfiled, Cummings
I can't imagine all these guys are going to play. Also does Walker have a chance at playing at SB this season?

For some reason, I can't see the average 60+ year old Beaver fan getting their groove on to classic Primus. They barely tolerate Back In Black at the beginning of games. Great tune, though…

Ha ha, Ken that is a good point. But forget about the 60+ beaver fans, i dont think the current students would even recognize who Primus is!
