Tyler Thomas has been kicked off the Oregon State football team, coach Mike Riley said Monday morning.

Thomas, a redshirt freshman offensive lineman, was involved in his second run-in with the law this year.

He was arrested early Sunday morning on second-degree criminal mischief, first-degree criminal trespass and resisting arrest, according to Corvallis Police. He wasn’t cited for minor in possession, but alcohol was involved.

“We have dismissed Tyler Thomas from our team,” Riley said. “He had an off-the-field incident over the weekend that cost him a spot on the roster.”

Thomas was involved in an underage party in the spring, and later tried to get into a bar with a fake ID.

“This is not his first go-around with this, and it’s partly a result of that,” Riley said. “The move was not a one-time thing. It was a number of reasons. This was icing on the cake.”

UPDATE from my cops reporter. All I can say is Wow.

According to information from the Corvallis Police Department, at about 4:51 a.m., police were called to 519 N.W. 14th Street after a 32-year-old woman reported there was a naked man in the upstairs office of her residence.
When officers arrived, they ordered him to get on the ground several times, but he refused.
Then Thomas, who had reportedly been drinking, got into a “three-point stance” and lunged at the officers, who Tased him.
Thomas was booked into Benton County Jail but was released later the same day.

Stevenson elects surgery
Backup RB Jovan Stevenson had surgery Monday morning to repair his separated shoulder. The procedure was needed so it healed properly and wouldn’t happen again.

Stevenson wanted to wait until after the season, but was convinced doing it now was best. He’ll miss the season and be back for spring practice.

“They said it was the right thing to do,” Riley said. “After looking at it with a team of people they told him it was the right thing to do. It’s not a rehab and come back. The likeliness of it happening again was high.”

Stevenson played as a true freshman last season. He can redshirt this season and have three years to play.
