The Oregon State football team reports that it has sold 25,000 season tickets. That’s the first time the Beavers reached that level.
Dad’s Weekend tickets are being hawked.
Check out this story in Thursday’s GT on the results of the BEST transition program that helps high school athletes adjust to college. The results are stunning.
Looks like wrestling coach Jim Zalesky slimmed down his roster for the coming season. I’m sure it will expand in the fall.
And for your entertainment, here’s the latest edition of what’s on my iPod. I love heavier remakes of 80s classics. Orginal by Dead or Alive. This done by Dope.
Gymnastics walking for a cause
For the sixth straight spring, the gymnastics team is set to participate in the Relay for Life to benefit the American Cancer Society onFriday night.
Team members will take turns walking around OSU’s Memorial Union quad from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. Saturday in an effort to raise money for the fight against cancer.
The Beavers set a goal to raise $2,000 and they’ll have a bake sale at their camp site to help meet their goal.

Well, OSU's graphics and editing are getting MUCH better, but the message and tag lines are still weak. Not sure what hurricanes have to do with Corvallis (isn't that Miami?). So far we've been encouraged to "let it rage", we're told players are orange, and now the power of the hurricane. Its tremendous progress in terms of graphics, but needs some more work.
How about "O-S-You!" with montages of the players and crowd, with the crowd chant playing over the footage? Something more OSU-centric (and the chant is a crowd favorite at games) with the same quality of video editing…

i completely agree. if theres one thing that i wish we were more like the U of O, it would be marketing. i dont think we'll ever have the engine that powers them, but really, come on beavs! i find it really easy to be clever/ cool/ fun with marketing. the ideas and potential are endless, theres no reason we cant and shouldnt be better….
however i am orange, and remind people of it every day in Eugene haha

Wow, good on the season ticket push. The home schedule this year is the good schedule with USC and Oregon, so that is part of it…..

Good points ObjCritic. When was the last time a "Category 5" anything made its way to Corvallis? Perhaps this is a result of out-of-state marketers getting the contract. But at least it is in color. Unlike the "I am Orange" campaign that was all in shades of gray.

Good news about the season tickets. Bad news that we put out another marketing video. These are never good and this latest one enforces that idea even more. It's a bad state of affairs when your program would be better off with no graphics or marketing than the ones they put out. Hurricane? Really? Ouch.
