Oregon State CB Kaua Olds, 20, was arrested Sunday on charges of resisting arrest, interfering with a police officer and being a minor in possession of alcohol.
Here’s the text in crime log of Tuesday’s GT
RESISTING ARREST: 12:34 a.m., 400 block Northwest 17th Street. Officers were investigating a report of vandalism when they saw two men carrying open containers of alcohol walk up to a residence. When told to stop, the men ran behind the residence. One officer struggled with one of the men and the other officer helped take the suspect into custody. Kauakea K. Olds, 20, of Hawaii, was arrested on charges of resisting arrest, interfering with a police officer and being a minor in possession of alcohol. The other man, Aaron M. Davidson, 18, of Corvallis, initially left the scene but later returned and was cited for being a minor in possession of alcohol and for interfering with police.
Olds is a walk-on redshirt freshman from Kailua, Hawaii. He played on the scout team last season.
He already planned to transfer to another school at the end of the spring term, according to officials in the OSU athletics department, and is off the team.
This is the second time this type of incident occurred for the Beavers in a month. DE John Braun was cited for hosting a party for minors. His roommate OL Tyler Thomas was cited later that night for minor in possession of alcohol and using a fake ID to get into a bar.

Oh the title just confused me… should it be "Former football player arrested", not that it matters much. Sounds like the kid is a knucklehead.

For some reason ean's latest post is not showing up, yet. So here it is:
"Oh the title just confused me… should it be "Former football player arrested", not that it matters much. Sounds like the kid is a knucklehead."

Sounds like someone impersonating my wife wants the coach fired.

LOL. I'm talking about the players running over everything. Rules be damned because they don't apply. His transfer should be denied and he should never be granted any scholarship. Ya, ya, my husband explains it all and it just goes to show that there is no justice or equality. Any other idiot would not get special treatment.

He was a walk-on so he doesn't have a scholarship and we fought a war about 150 years to settle that issue of indentured servitude, we can't really force him to stat at Oregon State if he doesn't want to.
he had already told Riley he was leaving, he didn't feel obligated to the rule of the team at that point.
I don't know how to break the news, but unlike when we were chaste, teetotalers in college, a majority of underage students drink at college (maybe not at bob johns and byu, but everywhere else)). College is more than just studying (and sports for some), it's about growing up and some of that means kids experiment and push boundaries as the part of the process to figure out who they are.

No war was ever fought to end "indentured servitude." Are you talking about slavery? That's like, ya know, a totally different thing.
>>College experience is more than just studying to get a job (and sports for some), it's about growing up and some of that means kids experiment and push boundaries as the part of the process to figure out who they are
Kids should grow up until the age of 18. After that they're adults, and if they're stupid enough to drink when it's illegal, they should face the consequences. Are you aware of the epidemic of under age drinking at colleges? Seems like several colleges a year have some idiot who gets drunk, then falls out a second story window and kills himself.
There's nothing to be proud of in t hat.

I would like every person killing this kid continue to forget that they were ever in college. I know when I was in college my friends and I never drank until I we were 21. Glass houses and such.

I'll be honest, I only care about these things if it's key players like Quiz, James, Katz, Wheaton, etc.
Kaua Olds? See ya.

I can't defend any of these incidents, but they are not starters or anyone crucial to the team. It's clear to me Kaua Olds made stupid mistakes (resisting arrest?).
I am sure that using a fake ID is a crime, so Tyler Thomas is just dumb.
But I cannot really find the same fault John Braun. He had a party and underage students were there…..who in America that went to college had a party where kids of age and underage attended? OK, it's wrong, but its one of those growing up things. It's one of those growing up things that we do

I don't believe in the zero tolerance policy concept, but think that it somehow needs to get through to these young men (and women as well) that if they are on scholarship, they should be held to a higher standard.
