The Oregon State wrestling team jumped six spots to 14th in the NWCA/USA Today Division I Team Coaches Poll. The Beavers (18-1) have the second most dual meet wins behind No. 1 Iowa (19-0).
The last time the Beavers were ranked this high was Jan. 31, 2001, under former coach Joe Wells. The Beavers ranged from 12th to 17th that season, finishing 17th.
OSU is ranked 13th in the D1CollegeWrestling.net poll, 15th in the Intermat poll and 14th according to Wrestling Insider Newsmagazine.
The Beavers have defeated three top 25 opponents in No. 12 Wisconsin in the first dual of the season, No. 24 Arizona State and No. 16 Cal Poly last weekend, but fell to No. 8 Boise State.
OSU will take on two more ranked opponents before the end of the regular season in No. 12 Boise State again Friday and No. 8 Oklahoma on Sunday.
The 18 wins are the most since 1984, when OSU won 22 duals, and it ties the most coach Jim Zalesky has had in his career in a single season.
Colby Covington is No. 9 in the InterMat Division I Individual Rankings at 174 pounds. Five others are ranked with No. 13 Keegan Davis (157), No. 13 Clayton Jack (heavyweight), No. 15 Jason Lara (125), No. 16 Kelly Kubec (133) and No. 20 Mike Mangrum (141).
