Connor Hamlett of Meadowdale High in Lynnwood, Wash., verbally committed to the Oregon State football team, according to Rivals.com.
He’s a 6-foot-7, 230-pound unranked and unranked TE/DE. Rivals said Hamlett didn’t have any other offers so when the Beavers called him Monday he took the offer.
Hamlett looks like someone the Beavers will develop, and a potential greyshirt. He has size to mold. Hamlett caught 43 passes for 648 yards and six TDs last season.
Scout.com rates him No. 33 in the northwest as a WR. He was second-team all-Wesco 3A. Scout said his other college option was a greyshirt at Washington State.
The Beavers have 15 commitments going into Wednesday’s signing day. Check out Hamlett highlights below.
Also, check out my story in Tuesday GT on OSU cutting football ticket prices to get more people in the seats. In hinesight this should have been done last year. However, no one could predict how bad the economy would get. Hopefully, this has a the trickle down effect you’ll read about in the story.

He looks a little slow but that could be because tall people always look a little slow on film. Doesn't exactly look elusive after the catch either. He jumps for every ball even if he doesn't have to. He does have some good looking hands, he catches several which are under thrown and could/should have been picked which is impressive for a guy his size. It is an intriguing prospect as big guys typically develop later anyway. Should make for a heck of a red zone target on those fade routes… hopefully he pans out.

Cliff
This player looks like a reach for the beavs. Maybe he can contribute in a few years but not in the near future. There was a good tight end from Portland, Jacob Wark who committed to Cal. Why can't the beavs get local kids. The better Oregon players are not signing with OSU this year even with a winning record.

Beavers always look for Oregon players. Some guys just want to get away from where they grew up. And if they are that good, they do.

In your article "OSU cuts some football ticket prices" they are actually RAISING by "$4 increase from last season due to the nonconference opponent being Louisville of the Big East Conference instead of lower level Portland State". Isn't Cincinnati in the Big East? Didn't we play them in 2009? And we gave up a 2010 home game to play at TCU. Seems like they are doing nothing for the Season Ticket holders, we still have the make the BASF donations and pay a higher price than last year to keep our seats.

You are right. But you get Oregon and USC at home. This is the better year for Pac-10 schedule.
And the headline refers to the cut costs for the unsold areas of the stadium to sell those tickets.

I figured out the headline when I read to article. Last year we had 4 Pac-10 home games and 3 OOC for 6 home games. This year we have 5 Pac-10 home games and 1 OOC. Granted we have Oregon and USC, but we should have the same number of home games. I guess my overall point is that long time season ticket holders are taken for granted. We have supported the team throught 28 straight losing seasons, and now the AD is going to give a break on BASF and Ticket prices to people who have not seen fit to support to Football team in the past.

Yes, but OSU desperately needs new fans. So, they make it affordable for those who can't spend that much money. And OSU needs money. A few dollars are better than no money.

Hamlett looks terrible. Hate this signing. To call it a "reach" is a euphemism.
