The Oregon State football team had a big weekend in terms of campus visits, and then received  two verbal commitments Sunday, according to Rivals.com.

They came from DT Fred Thompson and teammate DB Ryan Murphy from Oakland Tech from the Bay Area.

Thompson is a 6-foot-4, 290-pounder. He’s ranked as a three-star athlete and No. 70 in the nation at his position. He’s considered a top D-lineman from Northern California.

Thompson is the third DT to commit in the class. Replenishing the DL was something the Beavers wanted to address this year.

Murphy is a 6-2, 190-pounder with 4.42-second speed in the 40. He’s not ranked by recruiting services. Murphy played RB, too.

The Beavers have 13 known commitments for the 2010 class. Signing day is Feb. 3.
