The Pacific-10 Conference released the updated 2010 football schedule Monday, but didn’t update Oregon State’s with the Texas Christian game for Sept. 4.

OSU for some reason says it can’t officially say the game is on without the Pac-10 saying so, but unofficially it is. According to OSU, it’s only a formality that the game wasn’t placed on the schedule, yet.

Other items to note are ESPN could move the Boise State game to the middle of the week for TV. If that happens, there’s a bye the second week of the season so OSU can move the Louisville game up so there’s a week to prepare for Boise State.

There’s a midseason bye on Oct. 23. And Oregon has one more day to prepare for the Civil War than OSU. The Ducks play Nov. 26 at home against Arizona.

Bowl game wins were on ESPN. If neutral fields don't count, the 2007 Civil War was on ESPN2, the 2006 Hawaii game was on ESPN. That's about it.

  I was not considering Bowls, I was thinks Boise State, LSU, Cincinnati, Louisville and Penn State. Forgot the Civil War and Hawaii. Regardless, we don't have a very good record for these games

i still really dislike the idea of playing TCU. Rice or Houston would have satisfied the Rodgers bros for going back home. We will have a good team next year but a new qb. Hopefully Riley and staff bring their A game to texas that week, as well as the players. At least Louisville is in a downturn right now…

    It's more about money. Everything is about money. OSU will be able to meet it's budget next year. That means no layoff or sports cut.
    
    Is the football team taking a bullet? Yes, but the team will recover and make a bowl game.

      Plus who is to say they dont show up prepared and win. It would be a great way to start the season. I think TCU is good but it isnt like they are unbeatable, they have just had a great season this year.

        yeah the Beavs finished strong, as we do a lot. But they dont start well. And we have had veteran qb's with these slow starts. Now throw in a new starting qb….

      I am all for the schedule even though BSU & TCU look like two of the best teams out there. If OSU wants to get to the top they need to play the best and beat them. TCU will look a bit different with their NFL quality linebacker and DE gone next year, but still quality. OSU is young and good and will be better next year. Go Beavs.

Cliff, you list the bye before the Cal game but according to the OSU website we are playing USC on the 30th? Not only that but osubeavers.com has Cal playing on the 6th? Which one is right? You would think OSU would put out an accurate official schedule on their website.

  This is a REVISED schedule. The schedule you are referring to states it is as of July 2009 and has the letters "subject to change." Well it changed and this is hot off the press. The website has not been revised yet. Give them some time!!

Cliff, you mention Boise State on a Thurs and possibly pushing back Louisville to a Thursday. Can Louisville accomodate a push back to a Thursday to accomodate for something like this? On some schedules I see them playing a game on 9/11, that would give them a short week on the road three time zones away….why would Louisville want to do that?

I doubt Louisville will want that, but teams do that all the time and it would probably mean ESPN money. A midweek game would be on TV. If dominoes start, Louisville could also move up its game against Eastern Kentucky.

  I did note that Eastern Kentucky's first game is on a Thursday, so it could consent to the Thursday move and be OK. But I can't figure out who Louisville is playing the first week of the season – they'd also have to do a Thursday in the first game.
  
  However, you are right – money talks. Louisville has been struggling and undoubtedly had a buyout of its former coach and probably had to pay good money to Charlie Strong as new coach……I guess we'll have to see.
  
  Funny thing is I now consider Louisville the weakest team outside of WSU on the schedule. Two years ago would have never dreamed that.

  Is anyone at OSU worried about loses mounting next season? I am not certain that we will make a bowl game. Also, I heard that someone at ESPN projected Paea as a second round pick if he left early, you think he would change his mind and leave?

Who the heck is advising Paea? If he stays he's on tv a lot with a chance to be a first rounder. Taking a chance at POSSIBLY being in the second round could cost him a ton of money.

Brutal schedule but truly a great opportunity. Coaches and players are going to be tested and I hope they're up for it, could be magical.

With the collective bargaining agreement being revised this year between the NFL players union and the owners, Paea is not being foolish. I don't want him to leave, but after this year they will probably enact a rookie cap on contracts so future players will make far less out of the gate than in the past. Jake Locker is actually the one who made a poor decision financially.

If Paea goes, I will be sad, but it won't be a bad decision since a second round pick this year could make more in their initial contract than a first round pick next year.

I am not sure Sean Canfield his first year as a starter and Lyle Moevao after just four starts count as veteran QB's. Katz has as much experience as Canfield did in 2007.

Plus, those slow starts are like the Dallas Cowboy's inability to win in December they are only relevant to the media and are only true until they are not. The Cowboys have won this December and I suspect OSU has a shot a winning in September to. No other team has had this many people returning so comparing this team to any other team in the past is apples and oranges. Especially if you count all the experience that Catchings brings.
