After a brief break for Thanksgiving, the prep for the Civil War continues. The Oregon State football team gets back to practice Saturday evening.
Here are some link to stories you make have missed while eating turkey and pumpkin pie. Here’s one on Lyle Moevao prepping QB Sean Canfield for the experience in Autzen Stadium. He’s a story on TE coach Robin Ross, a former Oregon coach, going up against the Ducks.
Also, as you watch games this weekend there are teams to pull for if you are a Beavers fan. Yes, we all know that if they win the Civil War they go to the Rose Bowl and that’s all you are pulling for.
However, what if they lose? You can read about their Holiday Bowl chances here if you didn’t see the story earlier in the week.
To help insure that you want UCLA to beat USC and Arizona State to beat Arizona. If one of the USC or Arizona team wins, you want that team to lose the following week when they go head-to-head.
Basically, you want OSU in second place all by itself. If not, the Beavers are at the mercy of the Holiday Bowl selection committee and if they vote against USC or Arizona .
And if they lose the vote, that begins the slide down to the Las Vegas Bowl or Emerald Bowl.

Cliff-
A little off topic but have you heard anything about OSU and TCU working on a deal to play in the Dallas Cowboys stadium next year? I figure that would mean getting out of the Boise State game. ( Which I'm all for!) Just been hearing rumors about it, wanted to see if you knew or could poke your head in the inner circles and see whats going on with that, thanks.

Around midseason De Carolis said the schedule is set for next year, but he also talked about a promoter who was trying get teams in pro stadiums. So, I'm sure De Carolis heard offers such as this.
Has his stance changed? I don't know. The plan was to ease into the season with Eastern Washington at home because of a new QB. However, money might change that plan. If there's a big payout, dropping Eastern Washington is possible.

What DeCarolis was talking about was promoters in the Washington DC area. I live in the DC area and the promoter is very open about trying to get teams into the old RFK stadium. Virginia Tech has played there before agains USC and will be playing Cincinnatti in the Redskins new stadium in 2012 and Boise State next year. So what it looks like is that Va-Tech is sceduling games out of Blacksburg (4 hours south) and they wanted the Beavs to come out east.

I know it's all about money, but I'm for "easing in" early against some lesser teams. And why are we going to Boise anyway? If they want to play us they should come to Corvallis. Those trips to Idaho haven't been working out well for anyone from the State of Oregon in recent years.

Boise State is coming to OSU in a year or two. It's a two-game series.

Here we go again! I commented several times after the CW game last year that the focus of this season again will most likely come down to serious implications of the CW game in 2009. I said the Beavers must come up with a defensive plan to stop the Ducks or the same thing will happen again. The Ducks will flat outscore you. The Beavers have got to put big time pressure on Masoli much like Arizona did or it is going to be along evening. Good luck Beavs they are going to need to play a perfect game.

It will not be necessary to play a perfect game to beat the ducks, but a near perfect game should do the trick!! Fundementals will be the order of the day.
tackling, going for the legs from the knees down and wrapping the ball carrier
up and swarming to the ball, and for crying out loud laying out for a tackle in
the open field-poor tackling killed us last year or the lack of tackling-Forget
the hits and pushes!! And getting on loose balls Yes getting on them forget
advancing the ball-LEAVE that up to the offense!! We have the offense but
the defense is the question? They must show up and get results, the defense
has improved but the duck offense intends to make folly of that beaver defense so they must show up Thurday night and make a strong statement and play lights out!! This is not only for the Rose Bowl it is for the right to live in the
state the next 12 months and the PAC-10 championship!! Go Beavs!!
