Oregon State RB Jacquizz Rodgers met with reporters Tuesday on a variety of topics and he brought his interview A-game. That happens when there are no cameras in his face.
You must be thrilled to be able to play in a Civil War after being hurt last year?
“It’s a positive I get to play in the Civil War. It’s good for me and the team.”
What was it like watching from the sidelines?
“It was hard watching from the sidelines. It was a bunch of big plays. Things happened pretty fast. We got beat pretty bad.”
What are your thoughts on counterpart LaMichael James?
“LaMichael is a fast, quick running back who can score a home run touchdown. I talked to him last night (on Facebook). We talked about how people make me and him into a personal battle. It’s just a love for the game, and helping our teams win that’s important.”
How did you convince James Rodgers to accept that fumble (against Washington) on the botched handoff between you two?
“He just took the blame, but as long as we recovered the ball it was all right. He said I put it on his hip, but I knew I put it in his pocket.”
What do you think of his bad pass attempt last weekend?
“That’s was horrible. I told you I could throw better than him. You saw that pass, it went straight into the ground.”
The Civil War is an emotional game, do you have to back off the talking on the field?
“I’m going to approach it like every game. Me, I’m going to talk mess every game. That’s how I play.”
How do you compare the offense to last year’s offense?
“As the year has been going on we’ve had more playmakers come along like Joe (Halahuni). We are more explosive. It helps when you have other playmakers who can make plays.”
Honestly, do you think about the Rose Bowl?
“Yes, I think about it. But we have to stay focused to beat Oregon. The Rose Bowl doesn’t exist if you don’t beat Oregon.”

Lighten up Cliffy. There just trying to get your attention and it worked. If they wanted to bribe you they'd drop a few more bills in the envelope. Clever approach from UTEP. And don't penalize the kid by not voting for him. I'm sure it wasn't his idea. C'mon, are really offended as you sound?

What UTEP did was tacky, unethical and someone should have stopped whoever sent money out in the mail. It just looks bad. It struck me funny, so I shared.

maybe it was one of Mike Prices lucky dollar bills from his wonderful time spent at Alabama….

Price might need to keep the money. UTEP has done a complete meltdown after they beat Houston. I wonder how long they will stay with Price?

I guess it's pretty early to ask this, but are there any players on scholarship that might get cut for 2010 maybe to allow for more freshmen to come this year just like what happened to Kevin Pankey and Tom Hansen. Two players that come mind are Kaulin Krebs and maybe David Ross. I really don't see Kaulin getting any time at WR for a long time and hes also had a few injuries just like Kevin and Tom had.

Pankey and Hansen left due to having physical issues and academic problems. It was a case of them not wanting to football and school anymore.
Krebs is coming back from an injury. We'll have to see how he does. Ross is healthy. So, I don't know. We'll find out. There's no sign that they won't be back.
