Cliff: Holiday Bowl potential Comments
The Holiday Bowl selection committee met Monday afternoon about who it would invite to its postseason game in San Diego from the Pacific-10 Conference and the Oregon State football team is high on the list, said selection committee member Clark Siebrand.
The winner of the Dec. 3 Civil War goes to the Rose Bowl against Ohio State of the Big Ten Conference. If the Beavers win, Oregon goes to the Holiday Bowl as the outright runner-up in the conference.
However, if the Beavers lose there could be a multiple team tie with teams such as OSU, Stanford, California and Southern California or Arizona. In that case, the Holiday Bowl gets to pick who it invites. Tiebreakers don’t matter.
“That would make our job pretty interesting,” Siebrand said. “I personally prefer Oregon State. They haven’t been here before.”
