Cliff: WSU postgame Comments

PULLMAN, Wash. – There was little drama as the Oregon State football team put away Washington State 42-10 on Saturday in Martin Stadium.

Here’s link to my story on the game. Here’s a link to the Game Center, which is the play-by-play. Here’s a link to the notebook. Here’s the report card.

The Cougars did put a up a fight. Boosters in the press box were abuzz with how well the offensive line held up in the first half.

OSU started fast, but there was that typical lull in the middle. It was 21-10 at halftime, but the Beavers put the game way quickly in the third quarter.

“At 21-10 we were pretty comfortable,” LB Keaton Kristick said. “We had to do what we had to and we came out with a win.”

At halftime we didn’t make adjustments, and we just executed better,” WR James Rodgers said. “We knew these guys would come out and play hard. They were hungry for a win.”

Now the Beavers prepare for the Civil War and the Rose Bowl is on the line. Here’s a link to my main story in Sunday’s GT, detailing what’s ahead.

And let me just say, for those who think coach Mike Riley doesn’t show enough emotion, his postgame speech was as intense as I’ve overheard outside a locker room.

DT Brennan Olander (knee), TE Brady Camp (shoulder) and DE Taylor Henry (leg) were hurt in the game. Olander’s could be serious, Riley said. There was no report on Henry right after the game.

Yes, these guys were cold. PHOTO/AP
