Shocking results came out of the weekend’s Pacific-10 Conference games, but did little to change the most likely final outcomes for the season.

Oregon and Arizona control their own destinies to the Rose Bowl. Their Nov. 21 game in Tucson will make for the next big game. The Ducks don’t look too potent anymore but should rebound. The Wildcats still have to go to USC.

For a look at where Oregon State is at, check out my Monday story in the GT. Here are my latest Pac-10 rankings. The top three just look strange.

1. Arizona: By default the Wildcats move to the top of the rankings, and it had nothing to do with beating Washington State. The chances of them staying here are slim to none.

2. Oregon: Somehow the Ducks were blasted by Stanford. No one saw that coming. They are still a good team and can reach the Rose Bowl if they get back on the winning track.

3. USC: A bounce-back win over Arizona State was a good step back toward the top. Trojans lay in waiting, and hope someone else knocks off the Ducks.

4. Oregon State: The dominating victory over Cal puts the Beavers near the top of the standings. They’ll need some help but there’s a shot at the top if they win the last three games.

5. Stanford: The team that pummeled the Ducks wasn’t the same team that came to Corvallis. This team is on the way up next year, especially with the way QB Andrew Luck has been developing.

6. California: The loss of Jahvid Best (concussion) hurt against the Beavers, but it will hurt more as he’ll be protected the rest of the way. At least the Bears are bowl eligible and can work on getting better for the future.

7. UCLA: Beating Washington snapped a five-game losing streak. Bruins need to win two of the last three to be bowl eligible and there’s a good chance with Washington State and Arizona State left.

8. Washington: If the Huskies can’t beat UCLA on the road, they won’t fare well this week in Corvallis. The Beavers can’t take them lightly because there’s potential.

9. Arizona State: There was a good showing against USC, but not good  enough. The Sun Devils hope to play spoiler to rival Arizona and Oregon.

10. Washington State: Three more games to go before a lot work begins in the offseason. Maybe there’s the Apple Cup to look forward to.
