Cliff: OSU football notes Comments

Here are several items of interest from the Oregon State football team as it heads into the Saturday’s Pacific-10 Conference showdown at California.

First, check out the video above from LB Keaton Kristick talking about the upcoming game.

The updated injury report is DE Matt LaGrone (quad) is hurt a little more than expected but should be back to practice at the end of the week. … C Alex Linnenkohl (sick) missed Tuesday’s practice. … S Anthony Watkins (shoulder) will be out another week, bringing his missed time to four weeks. … WR Damola Adeniji (ankle) was hurt Tuesday but came back to practice after a break. … CB Tim Clark (head) sat out Tuesday but should be back today.

Check out my main story in Wednesday’s GT looking at the star RBs Jacquizz Rodgers and Jahvid Best. Both are very similar and played well in last year’s game. They’ve had their ups and downs this season.

A good sign as who is winning the game as you watch is seeing what these guys do. That’s been the key to OSU’s success in Berkeley, winning the last four games there. Here’s a look at the running game in those winning games.

• Nov. 11, 2001: Ken Simonton carries the ball 17 times for 125 yards and three TDs.
• Oct. 4, 2003: Steven Jackson carries 35 times for 227 yards and two TDs.
• Oct. 15, 2005: Yvenson Bernard carries 42 times for 194 yards and two TDs.
• Oct. 13, 2007: Bernard carries 33 times for 110 yards and two TDs.
