Cliff: Sunday night football notes Comments
Oregon State football coach Mike Riley was in a good mood Sunday night, coming off the victory over UCLA on Saturday. The first thing he wanted to know about was how the men’s basketball team looked in its first exhibition.
Then he got into his team.
WR James Rodgers bruised his foot in the game. He didn’t work out with the team Sunday, but is expected to be in practice Tuesday.
CB Tim Clark left the game late due to headaches, but it is not officially a concussion.
OT Timi Oshinowo will try to return to practice this week, but is far from game ready. OT Wilder McAndrews (finger) returned late last week after his extended recovery from a wrist injury was put on pause.
S Anthony Watkins (shoulder) will eased back into practice this week. WR Darrell Catchings (ankle) is still being held out with the hope of the medical redshirt.

National stats
QB Sean Canfield, RB Jacquizz Rodgers, James Rodgers and PK Justin Kahut are showing well in the national stats. Here’s a look at where they are:
Canfield: Leads the Pac-10 in passing (254.9 ypg) and third in efficiency (141.97 rating).
Quizz: Second in the conference in rushing and 14th nationally (115.3 ypg), tied for first in Pac-10 and tied for second in scoring (11.3 ppg) and second the Pac-10 and 12th nationally in all-purpose yards (161.6 ypg).
James: First in Pac-10 in receiving (7.5 per game), receiving yards (88.3) and all-purpose (187.4). He’s seventh, 23rd and fifth national in those categories.
Kahut: Second in the conference in FGs (1.9 per game) and tied for sixth nationally.
Team: Beavers are first in the Pac-10 in passing offense (273.1 ypg) and 22nd nationally.
Cal ranked?
Somehow OSU’s next opponent, Cal, is ranked No. 23 in the coaches’ poll here. The team is unranked in the AP Poll. While we are talking polls, here’s the BCS poll.
I don’t see the Bears to be that good. You’ll have wait until Monday morning to see where I put them in Pac-10 rankings.
