I’ll have a full report in Monday’s GT, but here are some highlights from talking with Oregon State football coach Mike Riley on Sunday night. Here’s the full story here.
RB Jacquizz Rodgers (ankle) worked out with the team earlier in the day and shouldn’t miss any practice time this week.
WR Casey Kjos (back) is still hurting. He has chronic issues there, and will ease into the week.
TE Joe Halahuni (knee) missed the workout. The hope is he won’t miss practice.
QB Lyle Moevao (shoulder) continues to throw, but isn’t full strength. He’s not hurting much so he remains No. 2.
There’s no QB controversy with Sean Canfield as the starter. Riley said it was just one off game. However, it wasn’t that bad. Remember the meltdowns early in his career?
Some stats
OSU is last in the Pac-10 in allowing sacks with 10 and tied for last with Arizona State in getting sacks with two.
OSU is last in the Pac-10 in opponent third-down conversion at 42.5 percent.
Rodgers is third in the Pac-10 rushing with 114 ypg. He and his brother WR James Rodgers are tired for second in the conference in receiving with 6.3 catches a game.
Video highlights
Here’s a video highlight package a co-worker did from the game. While the Beavers lost it’s still interesting for you to watch.

Cliff – Several big time recruites were in -Owa (DE), Bernard and several DB's. Any feedback on how their experience was at the game or if there is any indication they will sign with the Beavs?

Not yet, but soon I'm sure. Some of those will go do to the wire to decide what way they go.

I am starting to figure out what the problem is…. and why I lack confidence in this team. I love Canfield… I think he is a hell of a player… and a great athlete. What is missing is the "killer instinct"… it just isn't something that can be taught… he just needs to have that mindset that he can will his team to victory despite the obstacles in front of him. Lyle has it… but he only has half an arm. In as little as we've seen Katz, I think he's got it… and he has the physical skills t back it up. I am very excited to see this kid get his shot…

I agree Monkey. I like Canfeild but he doesnt seem to have "it." Lyle definitely has "it" though. When he is on the field there is just a different vibe, you can see it in the rest of the players too. It is like they get more confidence and KNOW they are going to do it. Wehn Canfeild is in the WANT to but it doesnt always seem to happen. Katz looks good and seems to have that will. Lalich seems to me to be like Canfield. He has all the tools and he could be really good but does he have "it" ?

I think the biggest problem yesterday was in two areas. Our O-Line didn't give Sean enough time to make reads and he was repeatedly hit, and Quizz couldn't find any lanes.
The second problem was pass coverage and getting to the QB.
