The Oregon State football team will not leave the Pacific Time Zone this season. The road trips are to Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Berkeley, Pullman and Tempe during the time of year it’s still on West Coast time.
The last time that happened was 2003 when their road trips, other than those in the Pacific-10 Conference, were to Fresno and Las Vegas, for a bowl game.
100 yards are good
When an OSU rusher tops 100 yards in a game it usually means a victory. The Beavers have won 14 of their last 15 games when a rusher gains 100 yards. The only loss in that period was Oct. 2, 2008 at Utah when Jacquizz Rodgers ran for 101 yards.
Rodgers, his brother James Rodgers, Yvenson Bernard and Matthew Sieverson are the individuals who have accounted for the 100 yard outings.
Happy 100
Saturday’s game will be the 100th for coach Mike Riley with the Beavers. He has a 57-42 record and is six victories short of matching Tommy Prothro for second all-time in OSU wins.
Links and video
Here’’s a link to my Wednesday notebook in the GT. It leads off with how the Beavers plan to use RB Jacquizz Rodgers more in the passing game.
The below video are highlights of DT Stephen Paea I found. I taped in interview with him Tuesday, but the sound is so terrible due to being next to a crowed lunch room, it’s not worth showing.
Hoop note
Former men’s basketball player Rickey Claitt signed with Horsens IC of Horsens, Denmark, a professional team in the Denmark-Basketligaen League. Horsens IC is a four-time Danish League champion, won the title in 2006 and advanced to the Danish Cup finals in 2008.
Claitt lettered in 2008 and 2009 and helped lead the Beavers to the College Basketball Invitational championship as a senior, when he averaged 7.4 points and 2.6 assists while shooting 56 percent. Claitt averaged 5.4 points in 67 career games.

Hey Cliff, just for old times sake I would like to ask you a question…Have you heard anything on Simi Kuli?
At this point i think he is like 27 years old and working in a pizza parlor in San Bernadino but I just wanted to ask and see if you knew what he was up to?
thanks!

What do you mean Perry is out? didnt he graduate?

That was a joke in response to the Simi Kuli question. People asked me for more than a year when Kuli would arrive and when Perry would be able to play or if he could redshirt.
So, I just added the Perry item to be funny. And actually, he didn't graduate. He was OSU's first first player since the APR to leave the program in bad academic standings. He's an 0-for-2 guy.

Haha ok, that is what I was thinking, man that recruiting class really didn't pan out, wasn't mcneil from that class too? I think we had a couple WR's in there too that either didn't qualify or never showed up.

Cliff, what timezone is the state of Arizona in?
ckirkpatrick says:
Sep 9, 2009
It changes depending on daylight saving time. Arizona doesn't change. So somestimes it's the say time as West coast, sometimes on mountain time.
ckirkpatrick says:

Let me adjust that. I just talked with an Arizona expert. Arizona is always Mountain time, it just doesn't observer daylight saving time. So it just happens to be on West Coast time half the time.

Did you find out whether or not Olander will be available for the UNLV game? Also when are McAndrews and Oshinowo going to be ready to play? Is Oshinowo still set to be ready by early October?
ckirkpatrick says:
Sep 10, 2009
Olander is expected to make the trip. A final decision should be made Thursday.
Oshinowo is still planning to be back in October some time. And every time I ask about McAndrews, it's a long way away still.
