The above photo is of Oregon State LB Keaton Kristick, and he’s adamant he’s not wearing wings on his shoulders.

“They are beaver whiskers, or maybe claws,” he said. “People have said they look like wings, but it’s just stitching.”

I thought they were wings from a distance. As he got closer I thought they were marijuana plants. In reality they were just random designs.

Before any fans get in a huff over this, the Beavers are not changing their uniforms to be like the Ducks. Nike was testing the stitching so Kristick, DT Stephen Paea and C Alex Linnenkohl were the test subjects. DBs Tim Clark, Patrick Henderson, Lance Mitchell and David Ross tested the very orange shoes.

Injury report
There were two new injuries. CB Brandon Hardin (ankle) and LB Kameron Krebs (shoulder) sat out of Tuesday’s workout.

WR Damola Adeniji (groin) sat out due to an ongoing injury and TE Howard Croom (concussion) has been out more than a week. S Anthony Watkins (hamstring) returned, filling in for S Josh LaGrone (knee) who at least off crutches.

“My hope is to get the whole team together by the end the week, and start game prep,” coach Mike Riley said.

Scrimmage doubtful
A scrimmage is scheduled for Saturday afternoon, but Riley is doubtful that will happen due to the mounting injuries.

“If I can get guys back, I don’t want to put anyone at risk,” Riley said.

Philipp won’t redshirt
True freshman Michael Philipp will start at LT, Riley confirmed. “It’s obvious we are going to play him,” he said. “He’s physically ready and he’s truly our best player at the position.”
